Broken Wings

Silent tears

Still fresh on her cheeks

Cold as stone, she lays

Heart silent, hard as rock

Eyes closed, no soft breaths pass rosy lips

She tried so hard to fly, to escape

Wings clipped, she falls hard

Down to earth

Where no one waits to catch her

A fallen angel

An unforgiving world

Her wings have broken

Hope gone, with no alternative

She falls fast asleep

Ready to be free

She has no regrets

White light comes swiftly

An outstretched hand beckons

A smile crosses her lips

Her broken wings are healed

She is ready to fly, to soar

Broken free from her cage

Suffering ended

Happy at last
