Where was I?

I gasped once more taking everything in. Right before me appeared to be a large city. Tall metallic buildings that glinted in the cold gray light which seemed to reach towards the sky. Their oddly angular shapes seemed to pierce into the clouds and disappear from view.

Flying oval objects jutted about at dizzing speeds, flying to and fro. I watched as they hovered and landed on platforms and little figures got out. I was too far away to get a clear picture of what they looked like. Large flying vehicles seeming to carry hundreds of people, floating directly above tracks which were also similarly floating and unconnected to anything. Zig-zagging in between buildings and occasionally stopping. I could also see large monitors covering almost every inch possible. Advertising multiple things.

I moved away from the forest and moved closer to the city. Stepping up onto the sidewalk as I approached a building. As I got closer I saw more clearly exactly what some of these monitors where advertising. One was advertising a new model of a vehicle claiming it was the best yet. Another showed a picture of a man. He was good looking with a chiseled face, dark hair which was expertly slicked back, his dark eyes bore into mine. I had to force myself to look away. I saw that at the bottom of the monitor it read.

Samael Devilin

10 great years of presidency. Vote Samael for president.

I got an uneasy feeling. Trying to ease my nerves I glanced at a brightly lit monitor. It caught my attention and once I had read it fully, a small shiver ran up my spine. It was advertising the "Anatta 2.0" it was some sort of metal humanoid. It was perfectly sculpted, completely perfectly. Supposedly it had a larger data storage and had a sixty year warranty and promised a "fifty percent discount on your second purchase for a limited time only".

What was this? I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that this sounded like some sort of surraget human. I stood there mouth agape unable to comprehend what I was seeing.

I was completely unaware of my surroundings and that somebody was fast approaching, because the next thing I knew this other person and I where on the ground in a heap.

"Oh no! Now I'm going to be ridiculously late for work! Great!" I could hear a sickly sweet voice fuming.

" I'm sorry I didn't see you. I'm sorry." I tried to respond. The lady with which I had collided with looked at me as if for the first time realizing I was there. I saw that she was wearing a gray suit. Perfectly tailored to her shape. Her blonde hair was perfectly slicked back into a bun. Her features where perfect. Too perfect. There was almost a mechanical coldness to her perfection. When our eyes locked another shiver ran through me. Her eyes, although a bright blue, were dull and lifeless. There where no emotions, nothing. It was beyond creepy.

I was broken out of my thoughts when she glanced down and grabbed her knee. Looking down, I flinched. Where her skin had been, now there was metal and wires sticking out. A black ooze leaked down onto her perfect skin. I realized that I wasn't looking at a human.

" Fantastic! I do NOT have time to deal with this right now!"

I picked myself up of the ground. Unsure of what to do, and not wanting to be rude, even to this robotic creature, I reached down my hand to help her up. She looked at my hand in disgust. She scoffed at me. Her eyebrows furrowing and lips puckering.

" You are one of them, aren't you?" She spit out at me. Trying to pick herself up. Wobbling on her 6 inch heels. One of them? Who was she talking about?

"Uhm...who are you-" She interupted me. Holding her hand up signaling me to stop.

"I've already heard enough come out of you're filthy mouth. You're lucky, lucky, I'm in a hurry and don't have to press charges on your dirty ass. Now go back and crawl into that trash heap, across town that you and you're kind belong in." She spat at me. I stared mouth agape. Watching as she limped away. What in the world just happened? I had never felt such disgust and revolt towards me.
