**| Past Sang's POV |**

I stared up at the entrance to St. Anne's Museum, Lübeck's Kunsthalle, with wide eyes as the awe filled me up. This was one of my favorite museums because of all the Medieval and renaissance pieces inside. I think that was what I liked most about the building itself. It used to be a convent. The tour guide from my first visit here called it an Augustinian nunnery, not that I really understood what that meant. The building itself was built Gothic-like with red bricks and was one of the buildings destroyed in a huge fire a long time ago.

Now, it was a museum filled with art and cultural history.

I smiled at it, wishing I had enough money to go inside. I've only ever been inside three times. Once when Papa brought Marie and me, another time for school, and the last time because they had a free day, that was last year. Papa let us go because it didn't cost us anything and I asked nicely. At least I thought I did. Mama took her anger out on me that night because she didn't want to babysit us in a boring museum. When I said it wasn't boring, she smacked me and made my lip bleed. Papa wasn't happy about having a noticeable wound and argued with Mama for the rest of the night. If I had learned to keep my mouth shut like a good girl, they wouldn't have fought.

I tilted my head up, taking in the white archway that led inside. The whole front of the museum looked like a Medieval castle wall. I smiled big as I walked up to the wall and placed my small hand on the old red brick. I was touching history.

Today, I was only looking, like I usually did.

Right now, Papa took Mama to the hospital and they were going to be gone for most of the day. Marie went over to a friend's house so I snuck out and came here.

I really wanted to go inside. People were smiling as they came out, happy with what they saw. I wanted to see.

"Sang?" a familiar voice called out and I turned to see North standing a few feet away, looking at me with wide eyes. Just slightly behind him was an older woman who smiled at me kindly.

I tried to smile back but it felt wrong on my face. She didn't have any ill intent in her expression and yet my skin still crawled and shivered and shook.

"Hello," I said.

North sent me a small smile. "Hi, Sang. What are you doing here?" He wore a long sleeve shirt despite the warm weather and I knew exactly what I would find underneath. It was the same reason I wore pants instead of shorts or a skirt.

"Watching," I said.

He stared at me for a moment. "You mean looking?"

"Isn't that what I said?"

He shrugged.

I looked at him and at the pretty woman who was distracted by something on her phone. "Mama?" I asked, staring at her. Her dark hair was pulled back in a braid and she wore a light blue skirt with ruffles in it and a white top. Glasses sat at the tip of her nose and a necklace sparkled against her pale skin.

I looked back at North. "Wunderschön, (Beautiful,)" I whispered. She wasn't paying attention to us at the moment. I looked at North and the smile slipped from my face. His expression grew dark with strong emotions, a good chunk of it pain. I lifted my hand and pressed my lip in with a finger. "Es tut mir leid. (I'm so sorry.)" I said. "Sorry."

He blinked, the emotions going away.

"Babysitter," he said, not meeting my eyes. I was being stupid again.
