"Did you enjoy surfing?" I asked Jace who was placing his surfing board on the sand. "How was it?"

He sat down beside me. "Yeah. It was great. You should have tried it. It was really fun."

"I see you're finally having fun. That's good."

"It's a start," he chuckled. "Well. I'm gonna go head inside and change. Your father and I are having lunch to discuss– business." Jace stood up. By the tone of his voice, he was not excited at all.

"Fun's over already? And not even a full day of vacation? That's terrible," I commented.

"It's your father," Jace shrugged with a grin. "Vacation is not part of his vocabulary. Now it's not part of mine too."

I scoffed. "Goodluck with that."

Jace chuckled, "See you later." He picked up the surfboard on the ground, and left.

"Hey," called out Connor. I turned around, seeing Connor walking towards my direction. Jace passed by him. "First time surfing?" he asked me. He offered his hand, pulling me up.

"No. I just watched Jace."

"I see. Well, there's a movie showing by the beach tonight. Come down and we'll watch."

"Is that how you ask girls on a movie date?"

Connor smirked. "Who says it's a date?" he teased. I rolled my eyes. "But it can be a date if you want."

"No. I think I'm good."

Connor smirked as I began walking back in the hotel. We started talking abour our plans today. As usual, he will be working but he gets off early, just so we could watch the movie. And then there's me, who has nothing else to do. Honestly, by not doing anything, I'm starting to miss my life back home. There, I get to do whatever I want and everything I want to do. Here, I don't even know what's there to do other than enjoying my vacation here. I feel like I should do something else to keep myself busy, instead of sitting around, going for a swim, or what not.

A guy with wavy hair approached us. He greeted Connor first before he acknowledged my presence. "Miss Anderson," he greeted.

"This is Alex, my best buddy," introduced Connor. "He also works here as a lifeguard."

I smiled. He smiled back while offering a hand shake. We shook hands. "How are you enjoying your first few days?" he asked me.

"Good," I answered.

"Good. It only gets better," he responded.

I nodded and forced a smile.

"Your break is almost done, right? You should get back to work," says Connor to him, while giving him a look.

"Right, I better go. It was nice meeting you," says Alex with a smile. I smiled back at him for another time before he left.

"I should go too. My break is almost finished. I'll see you later at 8?"

"Yeah."

Hours passed and I spent hours talking to Jace about his meeting with my father. Turns out, my father and his father are planning a new project, which is building a new bar restaurant in town. They want Jace to take care of the project. And my father told him to include me on it. I was not surprised when Jace told me. He sent me here to work. Now, I guess I have something to do other than enjoying the view.
