i didn't wanna wake him, but i knew he'd wanna see. tyler loved it when the skies looked like this. like color splashed on white, covering it all in deep, dark, swirling patterns of blue. he loved blue. he said it reminded him of his childhood, where he'd ride his bike down the street, just him, his brother and a few kids from neighboring houses. but it all went too fast, because we were here now and he was blue. he was sad. the only blue in his life were his pills. those damn pills. i hated them, but they did help him, save him at times.

i wanted him to see. i knew he'd want to.

"tyler?" it was to dark to tell if he was awake, so i grabbed his shoulder and shook him slightly. he groaned. "tyler, wake up. there's blue." he moved around. "blue? what? where? all i see is black. where are you? what time is it? josh, where are you?" he sounded like he was about to cry.

"tyler, here. i'm right here. get up. come see it. it's breathtaking. it's beautiful. just trust me, tyler, you'll love it." i reached out, feeling around until i found his hand and took it in my own. "come on." i led him outside and sat on the damp, freshly cut grass with him. i pointed up into the dark blue sky. "you see?" he looked up as well and gasped. "yeah." i could tell he was smiling.

"i can see it, josh! it's blue. oh, my god."

"it's lovely, isn't it?"

"it is lovely. it really is."
