CHAPTER 9: A Purpose

First off, Happy New Year! Woah 2019. Anyway, I really was hoping to get this done before 2019, but oh look it's already here. I still want to get this story done and will, hopefully by the end of his week. I still have the last 2 chapters to figure out. I'm not gonna leave any spoilers so have fun being confused.

Kaylee's POV

I didn't get much sleep since my mind refused to until I figured everything out. Peter. Shadow. Oh my gods I hate boys. Just thinking about them at the same time makes my head spin. This felt super weird. I wish I was dense so I didn't know what was going on most of the time. It's like Fate threw two guys my way and was like, "Hey choose one that will decide your path forever." Fate was really an asshole. I had it all planned out that I would live with my two dogs. Why couldn't life be that simple?

I could have another girlfriend talk with Baelfire, but I didn't want to bother him. I daydream a bit while staring off at a wall as I curled up and sat in my comfy reading chair. Time passed slowly when I was by myself. I wondered how much time had passed since I was in Neverland. I thought about that a lot recently. My mind filled with the ideas of the pros and cons of being 18 forever. I rustled my hair in anger as I threw the pillow on my lap across the room. When I went to go pick it up I froze when I thought I heard something. I couldn't shake this feeling off that someone was watching me.

There was a thud at my door. I opened it to find no one, but an envelope tied to an arrow with my name on it. I looked around and then took the arrow inside as I closed the door behind me. In the envelope there was a letter and it was written in red ink . . . Or cranberry? Nahh, it was blood. The letter said "Come alone to the darkest side of the island. If you don't follow this simple task Ace will die by my hands." - Pan.

I gazed at the letter for a few more minutes. Was this some sort of sick prank? I couldn't risk it. I put on my black leather jacket and looked around before flying through the trees to stay hidden. I carefully made my way to the darkest part of the forest. I slowed down when I couldn't hear anything. No animals. It was too quiet. I knew right then I was walking into an ambush. Seriously though, for someone with straight A's I am not the brightest. There were ten in total, they appeared from the trees and shortly after I was surrounded. I couldn't have been more stupid. I rapidly threw my acupuncture needles towards all of them. I only managed to stab four in the eyes. The rest managed to subdue me as they tied my arms behind my back, while two stood guard over me from both sides. I was out numbered. These people were skilled. They looked like native islanders by the way they were dressed, the head gear they wore, the weapons they used and the tattoos on their bodies. "Careful with her, she's a slippery one." Said a voice. I recognize that voice. It had to be him, but I didn't believe it until he stepped out of the shadows.

It was none other than Felix. I really thought he was dead, but I guess not. "Yeah that's right. Be surprised bitch. I'm alive." Felix said harshly. "Where's Ace?" I demanded. "Oh that little twerp? He fell easily for my trap." Felix replied. "If you touch so much as a single hair on him I will kill you. Now tell me, where is he?" I said flatly. "You really should be worrying about yourself right now. You can't protect everyone, even your own family. Has Pan told you who he's hiding from you?" Felix spoke before laughing hysterically. "Show me that Ace is safe first. What exactly do you want Felix?" I asked, while ignoring what he said. I couldn't shake off the curiosity I had. Shadow had said something similar to Felix a few days ago. I knew I couldn't trust anyone. "I want you . . . dead." Felix said with glee. "I want to see Ace." I said firmly. He motioned for one of the men and he disappeared into the trees. He came back dragging Ace by the arm. I could see that Ace was trying very hard to not let his tears fall when he saw me. "Release him and I will do what you want." I tell him. Felix looked at the man from before and the man obeyed. Ace tried to run to me but the other men blocked him. I could hear his haunting screams as I walked toward Felix, not daring to look Ace's way. "Before I die, answer one last question of mine." I said. "So be it." Felix ushered. "How are you still alive?" I asked. Felix gave me an evil smile. "I should say it really was a secret, but I'll tell you anyway since it's your dying wish. I washed up on shore in the darkest depths of Neverland. I was surprisingly saved by the cannibal natives. The tribe leader himself, Tigerlily took pity on me and made me one of his own. The only sacrifice I made was taking his hand in marriage. You don't seem at all surprised?" Felix finished. I couldn't hold it in anymore with my poker face, I burst out laughing. "No shit Sherlock. An idiot wouldn't know that you are gay. My apologize for laughing I am not making fun of you, but honestly Felix you don't do a good job of hiding it. You really shouldn't be ashamed of who you are even if you are crazy." I said satisfied at his flabbergasted expression.
