You looked out the window of the passenger seat only to see a gray sky and raindrops racing.

"You know this is really not helping with my mood," You say solemnly my frown becoming more prominent. Raphael laughed, placing his right hand on your thigh keeping his other on the steering wheel.

"Come on Y/N, your mom thinks that I'm Simon's band manager as well, you got to at least act like you and Simon get along." You sigh, knowing he's right.

"Okay Raph, but he almost got you killed." You say

"And your mom and sister?" Raph questions knowing how hard your mom worked to get this dinner organized with all three of her kids. You sighed in defeat, looking down at the crème blouse, black pencil skirt and nude pumps you were wearing. It matched well with Raphael's suit.

"You'll do fine Y/N, maybe you and Simon could actually start getting along." You rolled your eyes like you've heard this a thousand times. It felt like you had.

"Why do you care so much about Simon anymore?" You asked annoyed that Simon was brought up in almost every conversation you guys had anymore.

"Because he knows about Magnus!" He exclaims putting both hands on the steering wheel tightly before turning off the car. You immediately shut up knowing of how sensitive it was for Raph to talk about the early years of his vampirism. You then put you hand on Raph's thigh, slowly rubbing circles with your thumb. You could see his body physically relax before tensing again, this is how you knew he was mad.

"I'm sorry Raph," you whispered hoping you knew that you didn't mean to hurt him, "you know the type of relationship I have with my brother but if it means I have to suck up my pride for you, I will."

"You don't have to do that Y/N," he sighed, "lets just get this dinner over with." He got out of the car without a second glance and your heart sank deeper than it already was.

You exited the car shortly after him giving yourself quiet words of encouragement that this night will go well. You managed to catch up with Raphael's fast pace and clung onto his hand. He let go almost immediately only to wrap his arm around your waist. You let out the breath you didn't know you were holding as you and Raph walked to the front door. Just as your finger hit the doorbell the door was opened with Simon staring at you in disgust.

"Why did you take a car?" He asked lowly his voice getting less mean as he looked at Raphael.

"To look less suspicious, you know your mother and sister are mundane," Raphael sniffed the air, "and they do smell divine. You quickly turned to Raph giving him a smack in the chest only to receive one of his famous smirks.

"Is that Y/N?" You could hear the familiar voice of your sister Rebecca and her quick footsteps leading to the door. You pushed pass Simon towards the embrace of the sibling that actually cared.

"Man its only been a week and I missed you." You laugh referring to last weekend when you and Raph visited. Your mom came in shortly embracing you as well before hugging Raphael.

"Its good to see you again Raphael. Who knew you would such a talented man, running an antique company and hiring y daughter and then being my sons band manager, how do you do it?" she laughs while you and Simon laugh along nervously. Those were two totally different occupations.

"Its all about knowing the right people to get you in the business Ms. Lewis and it feels like I've been around ling enough to know them." You felt a wave of relief when your mom brushed it off.

"Please, I've said it many times, call me Elaine. Now come dinner is ready. I made steak, your favorite way Raphael." Raphael smiled back at your mom gratefully. You knew your mom was sucking up to him. He was involved with her two youngest so she better show him what a great mom she is.

Dinner was tense. Everybody was silent as you ate, only the sound of forks and knives hitting the plates was heard. After everybody finished, Rebecca offered to do the dishes. You narrowed your eyes at her knowing she just wanted to escapes from the awkwardness. She gave you a smile and just as you were about to, your mom offered to join her. That left you, Simon, and Raph alone at the empty table. You looked down at your fingers deciding if you should say something or not. Before you could stop yourself, you broke the silence.

"Simon," you start, "please don't make this awkward. I know this isn't the best situation but we can still make things better between us." Raphael looked at you in surprise, knowing it took you a lot of courage to say that. He then grabbed your hand, squeezing for support.

"We don't have to be friends; we can build up to that but I'm tired of fighting. I need to talk to my bother again. Like have you seen the new Star Wars?" You could see the smile break out on his face before looking at you.

"I would like to make a minor alteration to that idea," he says with a wide grin, "can we go back to be friends, Clary does not let me talk about the new Star Wars with all the shadowhunter drama going on." You smiled back at your brother, relief flooding through our body because you have your brother back.

As the night carried on the awkward silence had disappeared only to be replaced by laughter and bonding. Your family has become whole again and Raphael couldn't wait to get you home and give you a little reward for what you did.
