"Your accuracy and precision are way too good..." Grayson commented as he closed the file he is holding. The nine of them gathered around each other and looked at each other before nodding.
Then, Brandon faced me, "You'll be in-charge of taking care of the younger royals."
I looked at him before nodding my head, "Who'll help and train me?"
"You don't need training, just guidance. You'll see what Mason does on this current mission through the computer here and Agent 08 and 10 will be your assistance if you need any." Brandon replied, looking at me directly in the eye.
I thought about it for a while before nodding my head in agreement to the whole situation.
"It was certainly magnificent, darling." The Queen looked at Adrian and I. I curtsied and she waved it off, "No need for that, darling. Any girl of Adrian shall be a good daughter of mine. The dance you two shared was simply lovely; magnificent!" She exclaimed while having a sip of champagne.
"Thank you, Your Highness." I faked a smile and she grinned.
"Call me Aunt Alexandra or Aunt Alex if need be." She took another sip of her champagne before the King whisked her away, giving Adrian and I a wink.
"It was lovely dancing with you." Adrian spoke and I turned to look at him.
"Yeah, it was..." I trailed off as he stared at me and brushed a few strands of my hair away from my face.
"You look beautiful as always especially when you have that rare tiny smile on your face." Adrian smiled at me and I immediately stoned my face, making him furrow his eyebrows in confusion.
"Did I say anything wrong?" Adrian asked. I could not believe that I had allowed that slip-up to happen.
I shook my head, still a little in the daze, "No, no, you didn't."
"Then... What's wrong?" He asked. I shook my head and went back to the food table to get more chocolate cakes.
"Hey... I know that you don't want to tell me and it's fine... I'm okay with it... Just don't run off..." He followed after me and looked into my eyes. I nodded my head and continued to eat my cake, savouring the chocolate goodness.
"So, can I ask you a question?" Adrian asked just as I finished the last piece of cake on my plate. I nodded my head and he pulled me to the balcony, away from sharp ears and prying eyes.
"Yes?" I tilted my head to the side a little.
He wrinkled his hands a little before biting his bottom lip and spoke, "I know we aren't like friends since babies or best friends yet but... I have something to tell you..." He paused for a while and we just glazed up at the night sky filled with thousands of shimmering stars.
He took a deep breath and continued, "There are rumours about my parent's death like they were killed out of country and stuff... But they're not all true... My parents were in town when they were killed. It was an ambush. A castle ambush. Can you believe it?" He chuckled dryly and I flited my eyes back to him.
"You don't have to say this to me you know? We all have our secrets..." I told him.
He shook his head, "I'm telling you because I trust you and I need to get this off my chest. They were murdered... in front of me." I was stunned but I hid it well.
He took my silence and blanked face as a form of encouragement, "We were in my room, then the emergency lights went off and my parents stop reading my bedtime story. They pushed me into the secret hallway and begged for me to run and never turn back. But being the stubborn mule as I was, still am... I stayed behind the two-face mirrors and continued to watch. The murderer was masked, I could not see him at all. He killed my parents... after... after he tortured them so bad. Asking for my location. They never gave him my location at all. And it sucks... It sucks to know that they loved me so much and now I can never feel that anymore... I miss them... So much... So much... " He chocked and stopped talking. I placed a hand on his shoulder hoping it came off as comforting.
He took that as a mixed sign and hugged me. I allowed him to do it, patting him on the back as he hugged me. We stood there for a long time, in that position, hearing the faint ballroom music, enjoying the stars in the sky and strangely I like it...
