I took a deep breath. Chewing on my cheek while trying to keep my composure, I walked to our table the following day. Everyone was laughing and talking together. It made me feel even more anxious that I was late to lunch and I had to make an entrance of sorts. I tried to slide into my usual spot quietly, unfortunately being put on the spot as soon as my ass hit the chair.
“Hey Su Jin, why are you late? I got you your favorite milk!” Namjoon looked at me with a pleased expression, his eyes flicking to Hoseok briefly before settling back on me. No no no. Don't act like you're winning a fight against him, agh!
I glared at him refusing to talk as I turned my attention to my food. He snickered before setting the yellow carton in front of me and continuing his conversation with the boys. I peeked up at Hoseok who was talking with Taehyung, he didn't seem to be in a sour mood but I felt sad that he wasn't talking to me.
After school I caught up to Hoseok and asked him if we could talk. He was reluctant, which made my chest feel heavy but he still agreed.
We walked together in silence until we reached a nearby park. I motioned for him to sit on a bench with me. The park wasn't busy like other days, only a couple kids ran around wildly playing sword fight with sticks. I looked to see Hoseok smiling at the children, which made my heart race.
“I-I wanted to talk about the misunderstanding!” I blurted out quickly, trying to get my words out before I lost any feeling of bravery I had.
His eyebrows knit together as he looked at me, waiting for me to explain.
I took a few concentrated breathes before spilling my words out. “I just want to say that I wasn't jealous of Namjoon if that's what you think. It's just that he was my friend for a long time and I'm not sure why he is acting crazy all of a sudden.”
Hoseok nodded, taking in what I said before giving me a sad smile. “I know why he’s acting that way. He told everyone last night that he likes you.”
My throat instantly dried up. He did what now?! This crazy asshole, what is he doing? Why is he so persistent? I had a stunned expression, one that I'm sure was unattractive as Hoseok gave me a weird look before covering his mouth to hide his quiet laughter.
“You look so funny right now, can I take a picture?”
I snapped back to reality feeling myself blush in embarrassment. This guy can wear a bag on his head and pretend to be a ghost, but I'm still embarrassed for my dumb expressions.
Rubbing the side of my head I sighed as I was getting a headache. “He already told me. I just don't think I feel that way about him. Honestly I think I like someone else…”
Hoseoks face brightened even while pretending to be serious. Pointing to himself proudly, "Me right? You totally like me don't you!"
I looked up to see him staring at me. My heart started to race again, taking in his features that made me smile so often. Oh crap what did I just say?? Wait how does he even know… ugh what should I say?! How can I tell him I like him without hurting Namjoon.
“HOSEOK YOU AND I NEED TO HAVE A TALK!” I heard a girls voice yell out from across the park. I turned to see Yun Hee making a beeline for us, Hyo Rin trailing behind her with her head down.
Hoseok looked bewildered. He didn't really talk to Yun Hee or Hyo Rin much, even though they were all friends. He didn't expect to be called out publicly by Yun Hee.
Yun Hee stopped in front, crossing her arms and narrowing her eyes on Hoseok. “I hear you have some information I want. Spill it.”
Hoseok chuckled nervously. “What do you mean? What information would I have?”
“Don't play dumb. I saw on Su Jins phone, she asked you if you knew if Taehyung or Yoongi like me. You said YES. I need answers.” Yun Hee huffed.
“Shouldn't you let this happen naturally Yun Hee?” Hyo Rin finally spoke up.
“Taehyung doesn't seem to catch on to anything and Yoongi is practically a stone. I need to know.”
Dammit Yun Hee… you and your wild hormones interrupted my moment with Hobi. What do you think you're doing?
“I'm sorry I really shouldn't tell you though. Like Hyo Rin said, let it happen naturally.” Hoseok was trying desperately to brush her off.
Yun Hee looked like she was about to strangle Hoseok when a voice spoke up out of nowhere. “Taehyung likes you. I'm not sure about Yoongi, he hides his feelings well.”
We all looked to see that the owner of the voice was none other than Namjoon himself. Shit. This is awkward. How is everyone finding us here??
Yun Hee’s face lit up and she ran to Namjoon, throwing her arms around him in a hug and thanking him. She turned back to us and stuck her tongue out at Hoseok. “I'm team Namjoon now. He's helpful!”
Namjoon laughed as she pulled Hyo Rin away. She was chatting happily with her friend who looked at her like she was a psychopath. Looks like Taehyung will have a girlfriend by tomorrow.
Hoseok and I shared an awkward glance before he stood up. “Oh I think it's almost time for dinner. I should really be heading home, see you later.” He smiled and waved before taking off, quickly bolting out of sight.
I sighed. Of course my friends would show up and ruin my conversation. Hopefully Hoseok remembers what I said and isn't upset about everything.
“What the hell was all that about? Why were you with Hoseok?” Namjoon sat beside me and laid his arm behind my shoulders.
“I wanted to talk to him.” I said, trying to appear nonchalant.
Namjoon grabbed me be the waste and scooted me closer to him. Holding the embrace he leaned into me saying, "I hope you're not trying to make me jealous Su Jin." Namjoon kissed my cheek, causing me to feel anxious.
