"Yun Hee! Hyo Rin! I didn't expect to run into you two here." He grinned at the two girls, ignoring my presence.
"Erhh yeah we were just catching up with Su Jin. We didn't expect to see you either." Hyo Rin chuckled nervously, averting her gaze as she sipped on her coffee.
"Hello Hoseok." I choked out against my will. I didn't want to talk to him but I couldn't help myself. I hated the fact he was acting like everything was okay.
"So how's Yoongi? I haven't seen him much lately." He nudged Yun Hee, ignoring my greeting. Mature, Hoseok.
Yun Hee perked back up at the mention of Yoongis name. "Oh he's good! I haven't seen him much lately either though. He's been really busy." Her smile faded into a pout, causing Hoseok to laugh.
"Ah I'm sure he misses you too! Maybe you could go surprise him at work! I'm sure he'd love to see you. It's always nice to know the person you love wants to see you." He smiled widely but his tone turned bitter. Great. Passive aggressive Hoseok is not my favorite.
"Hoseok, can we talk? Please?" I tried again.
He turned to me with a cold stare, similar to the night of the reunion. It made me extremely uncomfortable, goosebumps spreading on my arms. "I think there's nothing left to say." He stood up, saying goodbye to the girls before storming out of the shop. I quickly jumped to my feet to chase after him. Here I am again, chasing after this guy. Ugh. I grabbed his arm and turned him around to face me, stopping for a second to catch my breath.
"We have to talk! Can't you just talk to me? I'm sorry, okay? I'm so sorry! I thought you would have moved on by now, I thought you would have forgotten me. I never wanted to hurt you!" I scrambled my words out as quickly as I could, fearful that he would take off running at any moment.
He just stared at me in disbelief, his face slowly contorting to anger. "You didn't even consider my feelings. You didn't even try to contact me when you got there. Did you even think of me at all, Su Jin? I thought of you everyday... but that means nothing to you, right?"
"I did think of you! I thought of you constantly. I never would have imagined you'd wait for me. Can't you try to understand me? What would you have done in my situation? I didn't even know when I'd come home! Hakyeon is the first guy i've liked since you, i never thought things would turn out this way. I'm sorry, okay?"
Hoseok scoffed and looked away from me. "Well you're not forgiven." He turned around and stalked off, leaving me upset and stomping my feet in frustration.
-
"Why do you look so upset, Su Jin?" Hakyeon poked me with his chopsticks and gave a reassuring smile. I had been annoyed since i got home from my meeting with the girls and I was letting it show during our dinner date.
"It's nothing really, just some old business I guess." I huffed as I scooted my food around on the plate. Thanks for making me lose my appetite, Hoseok. I feel too guilty to enjoy food now.
"Tell me about it. You'll feel better." Hakyeon encouraged before stuffing some food in his mouth and making a goofy face at me.
I giggled a little at his cute gesture. Should I tell him what's going on? He'll be understanding, he won't get mad at me, right? I started from the beginning, bumping into Namjoon at school and meeting all the guys. How Hoseok and I quickly became close and Namjoon was constantly vying for my affection, but I still liked Hoseok.
He nodded along, listening intently but never interrupting as I continued to explain my high school romance and all the drama we were always caught up in because of Yun Hee and her boy obsession. I felt nothing but guilt as I explained how I had to move away and how I left everyone without a proper goodbye. I told him about my dramatic love letter I left Hoseok back then and how Hoseok had taken it very seriously, waiting four years for my return. Hakyeon seemed a little shocked by the last half of my story, I had never told him how I came to be in the states.
