Today was disastrous.

Elise is annoying. Full stop! She keeps trying to sit with me at meals and wants to be my partner in every group activity. Jana is super annoyed about the way she dresses and even I was a bit shocked at her shorts you could literally see her whole bum. I remember saying to her that Jana wouldn't be impressed if she wore them around the kids, she'd smirked and asked if I minded. I'd literally face palmed in my head.

Now I was talking to Jana about camp privately. Suddenly out of nowhere, like a ninja, Elise walks up and demands to know what we're doing. Jana looked like she wanted to punch her in the nose, I can understand why. Elise is literally questioning everything Jana says. I stifle a laugh.

"Sorry, we were just talking about doing some renovations to the dorms," she says, sort of imitating Elise's voice, the girl doesn't even notice!

"Ohhhh, sorry!" Elise replies in a high pitched tone. She turns around and begins walking away. Jana looks as if she is holding in a laugh. Elise turns her head, smiles and waves at me. When she's out of sight, Jana and I begin laughing hysterically.

"Seriously," Jana puffs out between giggles, "she's like a three year old with a celebrity crush." I run my eyes over Jana as she speaks. Her piercing blue eyes. Short hair that she puts into a high pony then the left over pieces that don't make it up into the tie, hanging on her nape. Her collared shirt. And longish shorts that don't do much to hide her long tanned legs. She's just plain beautiful...

I'd once tried asking her out, she'd looked so torn as she'd declined. Because she'd been at Camp Jakkals for years she was high up in the hierarchy and the rules said no dating colleagues. So no luck, but that didn't stop me from becoming close to her . Jana and I had grown together over the time we'd been working here and now we were probably closer than anyone else on camp. I was her 'running man' she asked me to do something and I did it. By now everyone at Camp Jakkals knew me as 'running man' and I didn't even do it for them! I chuckled along with her. Slowly our laughter turned to grins and then to smiles.  She stares at me, looking me straight in the eye, so I stare back. Suddenly our little 'moment' I guess. Is shattered by the crackling of a walkie talkie.

"Jana, Jana, come in." She pulls out her walkie and calls.

"Over?" She asks.

More crackling, "Jana, the two other new people are here. Kom nou asseblief?" I smiled as Jana's face changes to being completely and utterly excited. She clearly loves what she does, and it shows.

She starts jogging to the entrance, forgetting about me. Then turns, "hurry up, if you don't come now you're not included in my awesome training session!" She shouts then starts jogging again. I quickly run after her.

"Hi, I'm Jana. I've been working here for a long, long time." She says pausing for a laugh. I remember the last time she'd done this. When I'd arrived and we'd sung...she continued.

"So anyway, I'm just going to introduce everyone and then you can introduce yourselves." She points at me, "that's Mikey or Michael, he's the 'running man' you need something done, just ask him." She then points at Amelie, "that's Amelie, she's my best friend. This is Andre a really sweet guy," she says pointing at my room mate who I suddenly felt pissed off with, "this is Bongi my sister from another mister," she says, "and finally this is Thabo." These people are the best team there is!" Jana was to quick with the compliments, our team wasn't the best but we definitely tried. "Okay, so. I want to know who my new partners are! Introduce yourselves."
