I watch Jana as she gazes up at the sky, she's so peaceful and calm and here I am about to ruin that moment with my quote, should I really do this? Yes. I will.

"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east and Juliet is the sun. Arise fair sun and kill the envious moon, who is already sick and pale with grief. That thou, her fair maid is far more fair than she."

Jana jumps, sitting upright and trying to find me. I come out from behind the tree. "It's true you know. No matter how beautiful this sky is, you are far more stunning." I notice Jana's blush. Before she speaks, "come on Romeo I'm not in the mood."

"Okay but I'll only stop if you let me come lie next to you." She rolls her eyes, I can just make our their beautiful blue in the soft silvery light cast by the moon.

"Fine, but only if you shut up!" She says her voice filled with laughter. I smile satisfied with myself. I walk slowly over to where she is, noting her t-shirt, not her usual collared shirt. She was obviously coming here to relax. Oops.

I lie down beside her, hearing her steady breath. She speaks in her melodic voice. "Look Mikey, a shooting star. Make a wish."  I gaze at her as she smiles at the sky and make my wish. I wish I could be with you. I say in my head, because no one can hear your wish or it won't come true. "Done," I whisper. She turns her head and looks into my eyes, it's almost as if she's looking into my soul. And then she turns back and gazes into the sky. I move my hand, slowly slipping it over hers. And then entwining my fingers with hers, she tenses and then relaxes and I rub my thumb over the back of her hand slowly.

I then shift over until our shoulders, hips and thighs are touching. She turns her head to look at me but I was closer than she thought. I take my loose hand and graze my thumb over her lips before cupping her cheek. "Jana..." I whisper softly, "I know we're not allowed to be together but we were made for each other can't you see? I love you..." A single tear slips down her cheek.

"Mikey," she says, swallowing, I see her throat bob, and she speaks so quietly I almost don't hear, "I'm so scared. How can someone like you ever love someone like me? You'll take what I give you and then leave and go off with Elise, I don't know if I can trust anyone that much. To give my heart away like that."

"Jana," I say gently, "you already have." And then I close the centimeter that was between us and press my lips gently onto hers. I pull away slowly, immediately missing the feeling of her lips and then smile slowly. She smiles back, slowly, as if she doesn't quite know what to do. I sit up, and pull my ukulele off the grass and onto my lap, " let me play you a song."

I start strumming and then sing, "What would I do without your smart mouth, drawing me in and you kicking me out. You've got my head spinning no kidding I can't pin you down." Then of course, Jana starts singing too, and I'm reminded of the first time we met.

With no practice we're able to harmonize perfectly. It's beautiful, and I suddenly never want to leave this moment.

I wake up with something warm on my shoulder, I feel it snuggle into me and I snuggle back. Slowly I open my eyes, only to find Jana lying on my chest. She's still sleeping, and I hold back a chuckle as I notice a little bit of drool sliding out of the corner of her mouth. She looks so peaceful, her face free of any stress. Slowly she blinks, squinting up at me, she notices me looking at her mouth and brings her hand up, startling when she notices it's wet. Then she blushes as she turns and notices the small wet spot on my shirt. The tips of her ears turn red and she burrows her face into my chest I laugh at her antics and then suddenly notice that we're in the middle of the bush.
