[Klaus Baudelaire x OC]
↳
The story of the Baudelaire orphans seems to be told completely true by Lemony Snicket, but he left out one key detail: Me. Hello, my name is Lily Angof, and I will be telling you about the true story of the Baudelaire orph...

WE WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING to Mr. Poe grumbling something about "getting an early start on the day," and "It's during business hours."
I looked down to see Klaus' hand intertwined with mine. I wondered how long we'd been like this.
Klaus still hadn't woken up, and when I finally shook him awake, he looked exhausted.
"Klaus," I started, "You should have woken me up when you had more nightmares."
I was upset. If he was having trouble, I wanted to be able to help him.
"I was going to be awake either way, Lily. I wanted you to get some rest."
I looked into his chocolate brown eyes and surprised myself by kissing him on the cheek.
His eyes widened, then he blushed, and a smile creeped onto his face.
Violet and Sunny giggled from the corner of the room, and Klaus tucked a brown strand of hair behind my ears.
Violet then interrupted us by saying, "I hate to get in the middle of this, but I believe we all have a new guardian to get to."
Klaus and I laughed, and for once since the fire, I felt happy.
After a short car ride, and Mr. Poe telling us all about "marvelous" actor, Count Olaf, who would soon become our guardian, we stopped in front of a beautiful house.
It was the prettiest house on the block. Flowers growing all over created a cheery environment.
We got out of the car, to meet a middle-aged woman wearing a rather odd judge's costume.
After we all introduced ourselves, Klaus and I exchanged relived looks. From what it seemed, Justice Strauss was a very nice lady, and if she was our guardian, then maybe it wouldn't be as bad as we expected- we were wrong.
"Justice Strauss, are you Count Olaf's wife?" Klaus asked.
"Oh no," she responded, "No, no, no! I barley know him. You see, we're just neighbors. Count Olaf lives-" she pointed a finger across the street. "-over there."
His house was very different from the surrounding homes. It was black and everything seemed to be falling apart. A large window that looked like an eye was staring us down, watching out every move.
We crossed the street, and Klaus rang the doorbell. I could feel that everyone was scared to meet this "Count Olaf", especially after seeing the frightening exterior.
Klaus wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer to him, and Violet hugged Sunny even tighter to her chest.
As we waited, we heard a series of "hello"s coming from inside the house, and the three Baudelaires and I looked at each other, our eyes seeming to say, "how incredibly strange."
When the door finally opened, we were greeted by a tall man with gray hair that looked like it hadn't been combed in weeks. A stench floated out the door that smelled of garbage and skunks. My eyes traveled down his body, to be greeted by an eye tattoo that matched the one on the window.
I moved closer to Klaus, if that was even possible, and the four of us gazed at Count Olaf in fear.
"Hello. I am Count Olaf. Come in now, and don't forget your enormous fortune," the man announced.
If only I knew then of the treacherous and unfortunate schemes of his creation that would ruin my life later.
I glanced at Klaus, and he looked back at me. His eyebrows were knit with worry as we looked around at our ghastly surroundings.
Count Olaf shooed Mr. Poe away, and he managed to mention something about us reaching him at Mulctuary Money Management, before Olaf slammed the door on his face.
He gave us a tour of his house- if you could even call it that- and left us to our room. The four of us sat down on the minuscule bed, and Sunny came and sat on my lap.
"How can Mom and Dad leave us to him?" Klaus questioned.
"I'm sure there was a mistake. Our parents wouldn't want us here. It will probably be sorted out in a few days," Violet answered.
Sunny threw her arms around my neck and laid her head on my shoulder.
"I hope so. I don't know how anyone can stand it here," I said, looking around. Klaus put his head in his hands like he always did when he faced a seemingly impossible problem. Sunny climbed into Violet's lap as I put my arm around Klaus.
"It's going to be alright," I told him.
He sat up and looked into my eyes. "I really hope you're right."
