I came back down the stairs with a 2 pens and pad of paper, I could see Liam going through the thick pile of paper we had gathered today, we had job forms from WHSmith, Clintons, Costa's coffee, M & Co, New look and Waterstones. All of them had offered the same hours for the week but at different days and times and very different pay. I slapped the paper down on the coffee table and turned the tv on to MTV. Liam pulled a piece of paper from the pad and took one of the pens, I looked over to see him doing different sums, trying to work out the pay, how long it would take us to get half of the cost for Rome, if we would get any money left over and lots of other things. I pulled the Waterstones application onto a mat and wrote my full name at the top. Waterstones was offering £10 an hour with two hours on a Monday, 3 on Wednesday, 1 hour on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday giving a total of 10 hours a week, which, if I'm correct, would give us each £100 a week. We would eventully get the 4 digit number we needed. Of course that was still only half of the price which I think is a bit over the top but who am I to argue 'cos I'm going to Rome! If I get enough money that is. Liam turned to face me and said,

"Ok so out of all of them on average and everything Clintons would proboly be the best because it has hours that won't get in the way of our social lives it is in the middle with the pay at £8.50 an hour AND with that it would take us 7 weeks to get the price between us and if we carried on working a few weeks after you would have some spending money for the trip."

Clintons was offering us 5 hours of work a week, 3 hours on Sunday, 1 hour on Monday and 1 hour on Wednesday. Every week we would get £42.50, which was quite good and if I save up the tinsy allowence I get every month I might be able to add to it and get the money quicker. Ok, so I have 6 weeks to get enough money for the first payment, thank god you paid it in 3 sets! I put the Waterstones form down and we both filled in the Clintons form,

Name: Lucy Elizabeth Carells

Date of birth:

"Lucy?"

"Yes Liam?"

"I didn't know you had a middle name."

"Well now you do."

"Your middle name is Elizabeth."

"Yes, Liam my middle name is Elizabeth, problem?"

"No it's just.... never mind."

"No tell me!"

"Well it's just that... well... my friends used to always say that I would end up marrying someone called Elizabeth."

"Why?"

"I dunno, guess they thought the name was nice or something."

"And how does that have anything to do with it being my middle name?"

"It's.... it doesn't." He bowed his head slightly and concentrated on the form in his hands, I turned and went back to filling in mine.

"Liam?"

"Yes Lucy?"

"Finished."

"You make this sound like a class or something."

"Sorry sir..."

"Not funny but we will take the forms in tomorrow."

"Why not today?"

"Lucy, when a guy asks you out do you get all excited and start giggleing and jump up and down and scream yes in his face?"

"No of course not I mean desperate!"

"Exactly, it's the same with a job."

"Right... ok."

He laughed at me before taking my sheet of paper and lying it on top of his, We then cleared up the other forms and placed them in a neat pile next to the filled out forms. I then took the pens and paper back up stairs to my room, I turned around to see Liam sitting on my bed, grinning. I walked straight past him whilst saying,
