**Ava's POV**
I woke up and brushed my hair and put on some simple makeup, I don't know why I even try to look nice though, everyone still hates me.
I grabbed my bag and an orange before starting my long walk to school, dreading every step that takes me to that hell.
I finally made it to the front of the school and hung my head low as I past a group of "populars"
"Look it's the loser." I heard a girl giggle and I looked up to see them all turn to me.
"When you fell out of the ugly tree, you sure did manage to hit every branch on the way down!" A guy called out making a bunch of kids laugh.
I started walking faster towards the school, but they just yelled louder, the last insult really hit me though.
"You have a face only a mother could love, but even she didn't stick around!"
I held back tears and continued to class, trying not to let their words get to me to much.
I made it to my locker and opened it to get some books I needed, a couple pieces of paper fell out on the floor, I already knew what they were and shoved them in my pocket without reading them.
I grabbed my books and shut my locker, only to come face to face with Tiffany and her friends.
She knocked the books out of my arms and laughed as Chelsea shoved me into a locker.
"I see you made it to school today, did you not get my note, or are you to stupid to read?" She asked smirking at me.
"Well then I guess we'll have to help you out, Olivia hand me a marker!"
I tried to run past them but got shoved to the ground and kicked in the knee by one of the girls.
I squirmed as Olivia and Chelsea held me still as Tiffany pulled up my sleeves and drew stuff on each arm before pulling my sleeves back down.
I cried out in pain as I collided with the ground once again, this time with more force.
"You. Are. Worthless." Tiffany hissed before kicking me hard in the back and walking off with her friends.
I slowly sat up against the lockers, looking around at the kids in the hallway with tears streaming down my face.
Some looked amused, some angry and frustrated, and some looked at me with pity.
I stood up and winced at the pain in my back, I knew it was going to be a huge bruise in a few hours.
"Omg are you okay?" I heard a voice say but I ignored it, there's no way their talking to me.
I started picking up my books and reached for the last one but someone else grabbed it first.
I looked up nervously, praying it wasn't Tiffany, but it was a boy, and he was smiling at me, but then frowned when he saw my tear stained face.
"I'll take it that your not okay?" He asked handing me my book.
"What do you think." I snapped at him, waiting for him to start calling me names or insulting me like everyone else.
"Woah there, I'm new I'm just trying to make friends, no need to get snappy." he chuckled handing me my book.
"You don't want to be friends with me." I mumbled walking to my class.
He followed behind me, "But you want to be friends with me, I'm awesome." He replied with a wink.
"Careful with that ego." I gave him a small smile sitting down at the back of the class.
He chose the seat next to me and turned to face me, "I'm Ratliff by the way."
"Ava."
He turned and ignored me for the rest of class, I did the same.
He wasn't in my next two classes and I didn't see him on my way to the lunch room, I grabbed a tray and found an empty table sitting down.
He most likely heard rumors about me and was keeping his distance now, I knew it was to good to be true, I wasn't the type to have friends, I was a loser.
I bit into an apple just as someone sat across from me, Ratliff.
"Hey." He smiled and started eating.
"Hey..." I replied, surprised.
"Sooo, science sucks, English wasn't so bad though, I have so much homework, and it's my first day, can you believe that!?" He rambled on and on, pausing every once in a while waiting for me to answer a question.
By the end of lunch I was actually smiling, Ratliff was a pretty funny guy, and easy to talk to.
"What class do you have next?" I asked as we threw our empty trays away and headed towards the door.
"Uh.. Hold on, let me check...French."
"Me too." I replied and turned to head to class, but bumped into someone, accidentally stepping on their foot. I looked up into Tiffany's angry face.
Shit.
"Sorry" I whispered, taking a couple steps back.
"What the hell! You stupid freak! Your going to pay-" she started angrily before getting cut off.
"Chill Barbie, it was an accident, she said she was sorry." Ratliff butted in, looking at Tiffany with an annoyed look.
"Who are you?? Her boyfriend of the week? Damn ugly slut." Tiffany replied with a glare.
"Wow your kind of a bitch." Ratliff said raising an eyebrow at her.
I stared at him in shock, I can't believe he just said that.... to the most popular girl in school!
I watched as Tiffany huffed in anger before shoving past us, her heels clicking loudly on the floor as she stomped off.
"You know you just committed social suicide right?" I mumbled continuing our walk to class.
"Well if she wants to be a bully I never want to be her friend, and if people hate me for sticking up for my friend then I wouldn't want to be friends with them anyway." He replied giving me a smile.
I didn't say anything else, I just took my seat at the back next to him and thought for a moment.
I finally had a friend, I wasn't completely alone anymore, and maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't get bullied anymore..
But, one thing that kept running through my mind,
I can't wait to tell Rydel!
