The One In Which Carmen Makes a Deal With The Devil

---

The man approached me slowly, cautiously almost. A sickly grin on his lips.

"Carmen, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said, extending his hand.

"Lucifer." I replied, curtly.

His smiled faded slight once he was less than a foot away from me, "you've made two ties," he stated, he sounded almost offended.

"Yes and there's not going to be a third," he lips curled into a snarl, and he grabbed my arm roughly, pulling it toward him.

"Then I'm going to have to secure you here," my skin crawled at his proximity and the feeling of his slimy skin against mine, the dried blood on his hands staining his calloused skin.

He whispered something under his breath and a thread, similar to the thread I saw when I formed ties, fastened itself around my wrists. He continued chanting the Latin under his breath until I felt a weight settle on my shoulders, as if the thread was tying me to him.

"Now, even when they're hurt you'll stay with me," my heart rate increased dramatically, this was the first time that we'd been apart that I hadn't know if they were hurt or not.

I squared my jaw, "You're gonna take these off me now," I said raising my wrists, "Or so help me God —"

"What?" he cut me short, "What are you going to do to me?"

"Rip your throat out with me teeth." I stated, leaning close to him and baring my teeth.

He seemed taken aback by my actions and took a step back a flicker of fear flashing across his face but he masked it quickly with a grin.

"Go ahead."

"Let's make a deal," he began, I looked up from the speck of dirt on the pristine white tiles I'd been staring at intently.

"I'm listening," I replied, my eyes boring into him.

"If you can convince Sam to be my vessel, I'll let you go." I laughed dryly, and shook my head. I was in the midst of thinking of a snarky reply when I noticed the spots covering his body, the way his skin was flaking off in certain areas and his eyes were sunken.

"Your vessel is dying," I replied, he smiled softly, my answers didn't surprise him anymore, "that's why you need Sam."

He nodded slightly, "Yes, and I'll let you keep the other if you do as I say."

"It's not happening, Lucifer. Find someone else," he sighed heavily, all signs of humour vanishing.

"There is no one else, you're the only one who can convince them," he said, his eyes finding mine.

It was hard in that moment to remember that he's the bad guy. The devil for goodness sake. In that moment all I could see was sadness in his eyes, pleading for me to accept.

"No," I said again but there was less conviction, it was taking all my strength not to give in.

"If you say so," he replied, seemingly remembering the facade he was supposed to maintain and putting his walls back up turning away from me and walking to the other side of the room.

"Sam'd be alright?" I said quickly, he stopped and turned around failing to mask the confusion in his eyes, "If he agreed, he'd be okay afterwards, right?" I continued, raising my eyebrows at him when he didn't answer.

"Of course."

"Okay, then. I'll do it."
