The One Where Lucifer is Worse Than Expected

---

Lucifer had left me in the room, binding me with his word. He'd left to deal with something, as he'd put it, I'm unsure why but it made me feel uneasy. He'd told me when I was needed that I'd be summoned and so I sat alone in the pristine white room awaiting his call.

I ran over the plan once more in my head, wanting to make sure that all the details were perfect before enacting it. I'd gotten better at being summoned, I knew when it was coming. I'd hear the whistling of wind and feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I knew then to close my eyes, the light when being summoned was blinding.

I heard the faint whistling of wind in my ear and all the hair on my back stood on end. I squeezed my eyes shut, pushing myself off the ground so I was standing again. I didn't open my eyes until I heard Cass' voice.

"Carmen?" He questioned, I opened my eyes to see him standing in a ring of holy fire, Lucifer and a female demon were standing on the outside watching him.

"Cass?" I replied, taking a tentative step forward. Lucifer's hand flew toward me, "Not any closer, pet," I felt my feet be secured to the ground, his word was binding and I couldn't wait until this bond was broken.

I glared at him but turned back to Cass, whose eyes were wide with fear.

"The Winchesters are here," he began, his eyes fixated on me, "You need to help them."I nodded, straining against Lucifers bond. It was no use, I wasn't strong enough.

Lucifer pushed himself off the wall he'd been leaning on and reached out to put a hand on my shoulder but I jerked away from him, he smiled.

"Sorry, but we've got somewhere better to be," he said nodding at the demon, who smiled back at him as he placed his hand on my shoulder, I blinked and our surroundings had changed from the old room to a field with a hill, dozens of people were lined up at the bottom of the hill their faces stoic and movements robotic.

Lucifer looked at me and smiled when he saw the disgusted expression on my face, "Terrible, I know but Death is so demanding."

He picked up a shovel that had been lying beside him and began digging a hole, I watched him cautiously, running over my plan once more in my head.

The field was eerily silent, the only sounds were the shovel digging into the ground and the fire crackling noisily. A voice suddenly ripped through the air.

"Hey!" It was Sam.

He walked through the mass of people and loaded his gun, "You wanted to see me?" He yelled, his hard eyes softening when they landed on me.

"Oh, Sam, you know you don't need that gun here," Lucifer began, placing down the shovel and making his way toward Sam, "You know I'd never hurt you. Not really."

"Yeah," began a gruff voice that I instantly recognized as Dean, "well, I'd hurt you."

He was holding a gun, I soon realized it was the Colt, he aimed at Lucifer's face, "So suck it," he added as he pulled the trigger.

A loud bang sounded through the field, Lucifer fell against the ground his knees giving out. I tried to run toward the boys but was still bound to Lucifer. He wasn't dead.

The boys looked from me, to Lucifer, to each other, I opened my mouth to shout a warning but I couldn't make a sound. Lucifer in took a shaky breath and their eyes widened, landing back on him.

"Ow!" he exclaimed, rolling onto his back and standing up after a few deep breaths, "Where did you get that?"

Dean didn't answer, his mouth opening and closing like a fish. Lucifer tensed up and swung his arm at him, hitting Dean hard in the face with the back of his hand. The force of it sent Dean flying back into the trunk of a tree, knocking him unconscious.

I wanted so badly to run to him, to make sure he was alright but I was bound beside Lucifer. I would've screamed in frustration if I'd been able to make a sound.

Lucifer turned to face Sam, whose face was a mixture of worry and shock. "Don't feel too bad, Sam," Lucifer began, gesturing toward the gun, "There are only five things in existence that gun can't kill. I happen to be one of them."

Sam looked worriedly between Dean, Lucifer and I, his eyes eventually settling on me. He didn't know I was bound, I held up my hands in a feeble attempt to show him why I was standing stock still beside Lucifer when Dean had been hit unconscious.

He still didn't understand but his eyes didn't leave me until Lucifer started speaking again, "Now, if you give me a minute, I'm almost done."

He turned back toward the hole and picked up his shovel resuming digging. Once Lucifer had turned his back to Sam, he ran over to Dean and placed two fingers on his neck.

"You know, I don't suppose you'd just say yes, right here and now?" Lucifer said, ceasing his digging and leaning on the handle of the shovel, "End this whole tiresome discussion?"

Sam stood reluctantly taking a last look at Dean before turning to face Lucifer, "It's never gonna happen," he countered, his voice thick with tears.

It almost sounded like he'd lost somebody but I could still feel Dean through our bond, I wanted to run over and tell him it was okay but no matter how hard I struggled against Lucifer bindings I couldn't break free.

Lucifer turned back toward the hole, resuming his digging again, "Oh, I don't know Sam. I think it will. I think it'll happen soon. Within six months and I think it'll happen in Detroit."

"You listen to me, you son of a bitch. I'm going to kill you myself, you understand me?" Sam said, his tone was dangerously low.

Lucifer laughed, "That's good, Sam. All that pent up rage, I'm gonna need it."

Sam jaw tightened as he looked toward the men facing the hole, "what did you do? What did you do to this town?" he asked, raising his voice accusingly.

Lucifer looked at the people standing by the hole as if he'd forgotten they were there, "Oh, I was very generous with this town. One demon for every able-bodied man."

Sam looked back at him in disgust, "And the others?"

Lucifer paused, and sighed heavily, "In there," he gestured toward the hole in front of him, "I know what you must think of me, Sam. But I have to do this. I have to, you of all people should understand."

Sam's eyes widened, "What's that supposed to mean?"

Lucifer dropped his shovel to respond, but as soon as it hit the floor I felt my bindings break. Perhaps I'd struggled enough to break free of them, Lucifer turned to me his mouth gaping.

I ran toward Sam, grabbing his arm and attempting to lead him away but he didn't move, his eyes fixated on the angel standing before him.

Lucifer was staring at me, his eyebrows furrowed before he noticed Sam and straightened, composing himself. "Let's just say our lives were very similar. Now it's almost midnight and I've got a ritual to complete," he began turning to face the demons, "Don't go anywhere. Not that you could if you wanted."

Sam finally looked down at me, his features softening once they landed on my face, he let me drag him over to Dean.

Lucifer was saying something to the demons, who were repeating each phrase. I placed my fingers on Dean's neck, searching for a pulse. He stirred lightly and I pulled my hand away.

Sam was alternating between watching Dean and I to watching Lucifer. Dean collected himself and pushed himself into a seated position, looking from me to Lucifer.

I turned around and saw that the demons were dying one at a time, once they'd all died Lucifer turned to see the three of us glaring at him and laughed.

"What? They're just demons."
