The One Where They Go Back To The Future

---

I rubbed my eyes tiredly, leaning against the window frame, the cool air blowing against my cheek. The wind had always been able to calm me. I sighed contently, my eyes flicking to the two boys who lay asleep, Dean's eyebrows were furrowed in the trademarked worried expression he always wore even in his sleep.

I wanted desperately to lay beside him, hold him until the worry in his face eased until his muscles relaxed. He always seemed to be ready to attack, to protect whomever, even asleep his muscles were taut like a tiger ready to pounce.

My eyes drifted over to Sam, who lay peacefully, his arms and legs spread obnoxiously over the entire bed. He seemed content, his face and muscles relaxed. I wondered what he was dreaming of, I knew if I tried hard enough I'd be able to find out through our tie but that seemed like an invasion of privacy.

I moved my eyes back to Dean and was about to move beside him when I was snapped from my daze by him waking with a start. He pushed himself upright a hand flying behind him to grab the gun out from under his pillow, his eyes wide and panicked.

I was on my feet in an instant, one hand on his shoulder the other easing the gun out of his hand. He watched me frantically, seemingly calming down. After a few deep breaths, he pulled me down onto the mattress beside him, wrapping an arm around my middle and resting his chin on my head.

"Anna came to me in my dream," he began. I nodded in response, my memory of Anna was a little foggy but I decided not to mention that yet, "Cass ratted her out, got her locked up. They're after her, she wants to meet me."

I rested my head on his shoulder and felt his tense muscles ease on contact, "Anna?"He chuckled softly, "The angel, remember? We helped her find her grace?"

Realization washed over me suddenly, like waking up from a dream, "Oh right, I remember you telling me."

He nodded, wrapping his arm tighter around me, "I hate when they get inside my head," he explained, attempting to sound annoyed but I could hear the slight quiver in his voice. She must've said something that got to him.

"We should call Cass," I suggested through a yawn, Dean mumbled something in agreement, clearly exhausted.

I made a move to stand up but Dean's grip on me tightened slightly, I smiled softly, "It's two in the morning, you need to sleep." I urged, wrapping my fingers around the wrist of his hand that was attached to my waist.

"So do you," he reasoned, moving over on the mattress and pulling me with him, "We'll call Cass in the morning," he mumbled sleepily.

I chuckled lightly but didn't argue as he pulled me down with him, pressing his body against my back with his arm wrapped around my middle protectively.

I fell asleep instantly.

-

I awoke to the sun shining on my cheek and Dean laying beside me, my head resting on my chest and his arm wrapped around me. I sighed contently, and attempted to slither off of him without waking him up, he groaned and tightened his grip, pulling me closer to him and buried his face in my hair.

"It's too early," he complained, his eyes squeezed shut.

I giggled, prying his hand off my waist and pushing myself upright, ignoring the blinding pain that shot up my spine as I did so, "It's almost ten," I announced, gesturing at the clock.

"Way too early," Dean grumbled, rolling over onto his side and burying his face into the pillow.I chuckled at his antics, pushing off the bed and walked toward the window, wrenching it open and letting out a happy sigh as the cool breeze blew on my cheeks, tinging them bright pink. My head was pounding, but I tried my hardest not to show it, disguising my wince with a yawn.
