"A party? Hell to the no godmother" Jasmine refused me, her pencil in her hair and piles of scripts she had to go over in her hands.

"Please, please, please Jasmine. I promise it won't be bad. Olivia said that it would be more fun if I came along with my friends, and you're my best friend"

"I know Adrien. But what am I gonna talk about with a bunch of teenagers? High school?"

Yeah she didn't mean in a bad way, but that was really an 'ouch' moment.

"Oh. Okay. I totally get you" I tried to smile, turning my back on her and strolling to my room.

Ring ring. Ring ring. Ring ri-

"Hey Adrien, what's up?" Nicolas's cracked voice said into my phone.

"Hi Nicolas. I'm good. What about you?"

"You don't sound so good to me. But I'm okay though. Just got up from a power nap. And I just feel like going back to sleep"

I chuckled quietly, understanding his predicament.

Many a time, I would wake up from what was supposed to be a short nap, and I'd feel like going back to sleep immediately.

"So why'd you call me?"

"What's that meant to mean? Can't I call my friend anymore?"

"There's no way on earth you'd call me, and not have one insane request. So what is it this time?"

That was actually when I realized that he was right. I only ever called him when I needed something. Whether it was to accompany me somewhere, or it was to get something for me, or even to text me homework answers.

"Oh God I feel horrible right now. I'm such a bad friend Nicolas. I'm sorry. I've put you through a lot and I haven't even done anything for you"

"No no" he yawned, the smacking of his mouth sounding a little louder and making me wince. "It's not so bad. It's nice to feel useful you know"

My heart warmed and I smiled at that statement.

"You're such a sweetheart Nicolas. I owe you one. Or maybe two. Doesn't matter. I'm gonna make it all up to you"

"That can wait. What do you need now?"

"Are you doing anything on Christmas eve?"

"Not really. Why are you asking?"

"Well I kinda need someone to go with me to a Christmas even party that a friend's family is throwing"

"I think I'll be available. My parents are doing nothing, except fighting day and night. So yeah. I'm free"

His voice sounded tired and I genuinely felt sorry for him.

"How about we hang out tomorrow? Just me and you? I still have a few presents to get, and I could use some company"

"I'm like your personal escort now, I've noticed" he said, and I could hear the smile in his voice. I smiled too.

"Well you're not wrong. So it's a date? Not a date date. I mean, like a friendly date and all, since we're platonic friends and nothing else. Oh God I sound so stupid"

"Yes. Yes you do Adrien. Incredibly stupid. Now I have go do boy things. I'll see you tomorrow"

"Boy things like what?"

"Bye Adrien" and with that, he hung the call up.

"At least there's someone willing to go somewhere with me" I said in a not so quiet voice when I noticed Jasmine passing by. Hopefully she'll hear me and go on a guilt trip.
