"Serena" the boy yelled desperately. She was running farther and farther into the forest. Not even the Pokémon were out, because of the weather. He continued to run, attempting to slip on his own jacket, as he felt the cold wind whipping at his face. How can Serena even stay running, ash thought as he felt his legs wanting to give out. Its nearly freezing. As they ran deeper into the forest, everything seemed to just blur together. Trees after trees after trees after TREE! Bang, in front of him, ash saw a tall oak tree. He had just stopped in time to avoid slamming face first into it. He glanced around to get his bearings. He was deep in the forest. Too deep. This didn't feel right. But then he looked down. "SERENA" he yelled.
She was laying in the few inches of snow that were on the ground, shivering. 'She hit the tree. SHE HIT THE FUCKING TREE' Ash panicked. "You idiot" he said picking her up. They had to get back to the warmth of civilization. Struggling with his already aching body, he heaved up her body. "Come on legs don't fail me now" he said to himself, but they did.
He came cascading down to the ground, the blanket of snow feeling almost welcoming. His body didn't want to fight any more. He knew, though, if he gave up now they would both die. Looking around he saw the same tree that he nearly ran into. Below it, seeming to nearly blend in completely, was a small hollow area. He began to crawl towards it. As he did, the snow below him turned to dirt, and the sky into wood. He had made it. Inside it felt just warm enough with his own jacket to be bearable.
Then he realized it, SERENA. He was nearly about to collapse, but with one final effort, he pulled her inside, draping his own coat over her. "Its going to be ok"
There was no telling how long they had been laying there, but ash guessed a few hours, as the sun had shifted its position slightly. He breathed in the cool air around him, sitting up. This was the first time he was really able to think about everything with a cool head. He had to get Serena back to the school, but how. They were in the middle of the forest, the school forest... wait, there are paths that run through here back to the school. He just needed to find one of those.
He crawled out of the small alcove that the two friends had sheltered in, feeling the snow once again penetrating through his shoes. He was colder now, because he had given his jacket to Serena, but that dint matter.
As he walked around the area seemed to simply grow and grow. Everything looked nearly the same, but inside he knew he had to be getting somewhere. Eventually he gave up, though, and decided to go back to Serena. His only really way to do that, would be to back track on his own footprints made in the snow, although as it was getting later in the day, the snow began to melt.
He ran as fast as he could to make sure the tracks didn't melt before he got back there. As he neared the area they had sheltered, he noticed Serena wasn't there. It wouldn't take him longer to find her. She was leaning on a tree behind him. "YOU IDIOT" she said, tears nearly welling at his eyes "NOW WE CAN BOTH FREEZE"
She really didn't know what to think. He had followed her all of the way out here. She was running away form HIM. She leaned back, now revealing what she had in her hands. Two large snowballs, which she threw at him. Thunk, thunk. Ash was hit in the face, one after the other. As that happened, he realized something. No, he realized everything. He began to fall to the ground, overwhelmed by everything.
