Okay, so this next part is going to be in Nico's POV. Hope you enjoy.

"I'm sorry." He looks at me with a pained expression.

"It's okay," he says quietly. "This was the only thing I cared about it there." He holds up the picture of his mother.

I smile softly.

"How long was I out?" he looks at me curiously.

"Only a couple of hours. You know, you should really thank Annabeth. If she didn't find you, who knows what would've."

"Ha. Thank her? For what?" he raises his eyebrow at me.

"Annabeth said she found you in the woods, passed out. Then she brought you here."

"That's what she said, huh?"

"That's what she told me."

"Well, if Annabeth said it, it must be true, right?"  he says sarcastically.

I take a step back.

"What?"

"Sorry to break it to you, Neeks, but your girlfriend lied to you. That's not what happened." he slowly pushes the blankets off and swings his legs over the side of the bed.

"What are you talking about. Annabeth wouldn't lie to me."

He stands up and walks over to his shoes set in the corner of the room. "Sure she wouldn't." he rolls his eyes and sits on the floor.

"What are you talking about? What happened?" I sit down next to him.

He looks up at me, slowly tieing his shoes on his socked feet.

"I was in the woods with my friend Mac," he starts. "We were sleeping. I woke up to her calling for me so, I ran, looking for her, and found her all tied up. I can thank your girlfriend for that. Next thing I know, Annabeth is shoving me past the border, hitting me in the head, and I wake up here."

I stare at him blankly, not really believing him.

"She wouldn't do that."

"No? Well, why don't you ask her yourself." He stands up and walks out the door. Quickly, I stand up and follow him.

"Where are you going? It's four in the morning." I run to catch up with him, grabbing his arm to stop him but, he jerks away and keeps walking.

"I have to find Mac."

"Who's Mac? Another demigod?"

He stops and turns to look at me. "No, she's an empusae."

I almost laugh but, his serious face tells me, he isn't joking.

"Wait, really?" my eyes widen in surprise. "well, just leave her out there. She'll be fine."

"I can't do that. She's my...friend."

I notice his hesitation in saying "friend".

Are they dating, or something? Eww, that is too weird. Even for us demigods.

"Are you two like...you know."

"What? No!" he looks at me like that is the stupidest thing he has ever heard. "She saves my life, I save hers. Friends. We met about a month ago when I stepped on her sandwich."

Did he just say sandwich?
