My eyes dart away
Scared of the intensity
I pull myself back
Afraid of what might happen
I was never afraid before
I dared to stand by your side
Closer than socially acceptable
Taking on the world with you
What's changed?
Am I scared of the possibilities?
Scared of what I know will happen if I don't pull away?
Of what always happens?
Because I can't let it happen again
I won't.
