"Marry?" Daenah shouted angrily. As the king laughed.
"If you get her to agree, then I don't see why not," the king laughed but stopped as soon as he saw Daenah staring at him frustratedly. Ajenore walked towards Daenah, neither gazing away from each other until Lucifer cleared his throat.
"Did you not have questions to ask?"
"Yes, I do."

~~~~~
All were gathered in the kitchen, one of the few places in the house where the sun did not shine on. Everyone's attention was focused on the vampire drinking from a blood bag, oblivious to the anxious werewolves surrounding him.
"What's your plan?" asked Josiah.
"It isn't much of a plan. It's more of a task really."
"Okay," Josiah crossed his arms on his chest, "what do you need for us to do to make this task of yours succeed."
"Simple," Lucifer throws the now empty blood bag to the trash can, "stay out of my way." With furrowed faces, confused minds and frightened hearts, the pack stood there, waiting for Lucifer to say something that would reassure them of Daenah's safety. "The task is to protect Daenah and help her succeed in ascending. A task that only I am capable of doing. A task that would be hindered if you were to try to help."
"What are you saying?" Ajenore asked
"He's saying that it would take Daenah longer to ascend if she is worried about our safety," the king spoke calmly and all attention directed towards him, "he's saying that we should not be there when Daenah ascends."
"That is not going to happen," Bow spoke.
"Bow," Josiah tried to stop him.
"You expect us to just sit here a trust you with Daenah's life?"
"Bow!" the king's dominance could be heard through his voice. Bow and the rest of the werewolves backed away and bowed their heads in submission. "I am also not comfortable with this situation, but the vampire is all we've got." The king walked towards Lucifer and Lucifer was now more serious than he ever was. Lucifer's eyes widened and it was as if the anxiety of the king completely dissapeared. The pack was shocked.
"Did he just..." Josiah looked at the king for assurance, "mind linked?"
"That's impossible!" said Ajenore, "vampires are incapable of mind linking."
The king placed his hand on Lucifer's shoulder. "I trust you," he said before walking away.
~~~~~

"What do you think the vampire showed his majesty?" Emperor sat on the grass.
"I don't know," Josiah sat as well, "If the king trusts him then we trust him."
"What if the king was decieved?" Emperor asked.
"You fool!" Josiah stood and clenched his fist, "do not speak of such anomaly."
"You're right," Emperor bowed, "I'm sorry to have said such a thing."
Josiah calmed and took a breath, "I just pray that nothing bad happens to the princess."
"Josiah!" Bow called, "we've come upon a plan." Josiah and Emperor followed Bow inside the house.
"Josiah!" Anta called as everyone approached the table in front of her.
"What is it?"
"Even after Daenah ascends she will be in deep sleep. A period of time in which the vampire would have no other choice than to just keep running. But instead of running towards nothing, he could run her inside the house."
"Then what?"
"This." Bow showed a jar of salt.
"Salt?"
"Salt and vervain. We surround the house with this. Preventing vampires to be able to enter the house, hence, keeping Daenah safe."
"I apologize," Lucifer walked towards them. "I may need your help afterall."

~~~~~
Daenah stared at her father. His face was blank, he was obviously deep in his thoughts. She's never seen the king this disturbed before.
"Father?"
"It's better that you don't know what he showed me," he stood and walked towards the balcony with his hand behind his back, "he will do what is needed, that's more than enough for me." She trusted her father, for he has never had a bad decision. But she couldn't help but doubt. Why does her father suddenly trust a vampire? Was it doubt or was it just because she was looking for a reason to entertain the curiosity that she felt? She had to know.
~~~~~

Lucifer opened his bag, grabbing another blood bag. He stared at it, almost as if he didn't wanna drink it. Almost as if he was beginning to notice something terribly different about his well-being.
"I need to know," the sound of Daenah's voice from behind where he was sitting caused him to snap out of his dilemma. He places the blood bag down on the table and in an instant appeared in front of Daenah.
"Need to know what?" she slowly pushes him away to give herself space.
"What you showed to my father, how'd you get him to believe that you will do what you say you will," she raises her eyebrow and crosses her arms.
"Do you really wanna know?" he crosses his arms as well followed by the raise of his eyebrow, mimicking her. She looked to be in thought, as if hesitating about her answer before looking him dead serious in the eye.
"Tell me," he smirks at her taking steps closer as she back away until her back was against the wall.
"Ascend," he said, clenching his jaw, "everything will be revealed in due time. Worry not of the reason, worry not of anything. Worry only to ascend. To live. To survive princess," he looked at her, his gaze more piercing than ever. Without a hint of sarcasm or flirt. He looked at her as if he was seeking her soul's permission.
"Don't call me 'princess', Lucifer."
"Don't call me 'Lucifer'," he takes one big step closer that he was only two inches away from her, "princess."
"How am I to call you, if not by your name?"
"Lucifer, is a myth. My name is Adhemar. Trust me when I tell you. The only vampire that will be touching you on the night of your ascending, will be me."
