Princess. She doesn't like being called the princess, after all she was not the queen's child and was only adopted by the king. The king loved her. He always tried to make her feel that she was his family. But every time he leaves her she would be reminded that she wasn't.
She sat still in the house because she was being grounded for safety reasons. The sliding doors to the balcony was open and the cold breeze of the night whispered a beautiful tone to Daenah's ears, she felt at peace and relaxed. Outside the house were the wolves and inside was the king's pack. Josiah in the living room, Bow in the kitchen that led to the garden and Emperor on the roof while Daenah was left to be entertained by boring Jett and Anta.
The house was simple and not made to keep vampires out. That's why there had to be a fortress of wolves. The king sent his pack because only they could be trusted. The queen was not to know of Daenah. If the wolves in the palace found out about her they would use her as a weapon against the vampires and put her life in danger. She was to become an all powerful witch, even more powerful than her mother. Which is the reason why the vampires wanted her dead.
"I've never seen Josiah so afraid of a vampire."
"Lucifer is no ordinary vampire," said Anta as she braided Daenah's hair. Anta was one of the only two girls in the pack and was also one of the fun ones. She wasn't as fun as Bow but she was good enough to bond with.
"His name is frightening enough as it is," she laughed.
"Lucifer is not his name love. It's what he's called. His personality is of the demon," Anta made an ugly face when she realized she wasn't doing a good job at braiding Daenah's hair. So she had to redo it.
"You've met him?"
"No, I've only heard of him. There were stories told about him. Frightening stories, enough to keep you up at night."
"Tell me one."
"Are you certain?"
"Did I stutter?" Daenah laughed as Anta rolled her eyes, "come on Anta, what else are we to do."
"Alright then. Lucifer once he attacked a whole pack and killed all them."
"So he's that strong?"
"I haven't finished," Anta said excitedly, "they said that he attacked them in broad daylight."
"Daylight?" Daenah's eyes widened, "but wouldn't he..."
"Yes," Anta said before Daenah could even finish. "He killed them all while he was burning and suffering from excruciating pain."
"Let us not scare her with stories that are obviously just made up," Jett spoke.
"You think the stories are fake?" Daenah asked.
"I know they are," he stood up from where he was sitting and walked towards the window, "Bow said that he was a myth, he isn't."
"He's real?"
"Yes, but he is not to be feared because he is dead."
"But I saw him."
"We are not sure what you saw or who you saw. But it can't possibly be him. Your mother was one of those that killed him." Daenah knows a lot of stories about her mother but this was one she has not been told yet. The only stories she knew were those told by her father. The king spoke of Joseffa everyday that they spend together. Her father loved her mother so much and he always tells her of all the beautiful things about her mother.
"She may have been a wicked witch. But she was not wicked at all, she had the most amazing personality." Words that the king has repeated countless times but for every time he said it, it was as if it were the first. He would smile and blush, his eyes would light up and his voice would reflect all of the love he was holding inside him. It was a love that would never fade, even after death.~~~~~
"The king is coming next week," said Jett to Anta as they stood on the balcony while Daenah slept on the couch.
"The king? Then why haven't we told Daenah?"
"He's asked that we don't."
"A surprise then?"
"Partly," he leaned his arms on the balcony and she followed, "he only plans to come. He isn't sure if he could actually come. He didn't want to tell her because he doesn't want her to be disappointed if he fails to leave the kingdom." Anta took a deep breath and Jett dropped his head.
"She longs for him."
"I know," he looked at Daenah, sympathy written all over his face. He then turned back to face the outside and sighed, "I wish there was something we could do." Anta placed her hand on Jett's shoulder. Jett looks at her and gives out a very small smile before holding her hand that was on his shoulder.
As they talked they failed to notice a being in the house. A vampire walking towards Daenah. He sat beside her as she was sound asleep. He brushes a strand of hair out of her face to the back of her ear. He dropped to his knee so that he would be closer to her face. He smiles as he admires her beauty before inhaling her scent. He gently rolled his arms below her to carry her but before he could lift her Jett turned to notice him.
"Hey," he shouts but he was not fast enough to get to them. The vampire jumped out of the window. Jett and Anta ran after him but when they looked out there was no one there but the wolves that surrounded the house. It was like Daenah and the vampire just...disappeared.
