I'm 18 years old, with raven black hair, that used to go down to my butt, but now is neck-length. my eyes are an ice blue people never expect to counter. my lips are naturally red, and i never need to use lipstick, except, maybe, a lipgloss, without colour. I have the body of a fighter, and I'm thankful for that. I would never have survived without it, the only thing i have in my body that makes me a bit clumsy is that i have a large breast size...

Everything started out as a normal day. I went to college, and everything seemed fine. Except suddenly the sirens started blaring madly and all students were summoned to the common room. A huge HD monitor had been instaled there the previous week so we could see things very clearly. Something was grabbing each human it went by, and tearing it to shreds, leaving blood everywhere. My whole class and all the others who were supposed to be strong, they all went running for their toilets. The experts were already calculating the spreading time of the flock, and it announced it would at least be an hour until they got to my city.

Everybody was in panic and I had to do something. I climbed on top of a table and spoke.

"SHUT UP!" I waited until they calmed down and continued. "Here's the thing. Those birds are killing us, no one knows why. We don't know if we can defend ourselves right?" They all nodded morose.

"Nothing in those images made us think they can get inside houses. So hustle all your assess and GET TO YOUR HOUSES. If we have to suffer, If we have to perish, let's chose our own way. let's be with our families. They'll take one hour minimum to get here, WHAT ARE YOUR WAITING FOR? Divide in groups of twenty. each group will leave when the previous group already left. I count only to ten before sending the first group. Make a line people, lets make it organized so it wont make us loose time."

They all did as I said. And that day there were no "social clicks" or nothing. It was goths with geeks, sports with nerds, it was a mixed bunch. But then again, we were fighting for survival.

When I got to one, I called out "Group 1 GO." Immediatly the 20 boys and girls ran to their cars and left as soon as possible. They took less than 2 minutes.

"Group 2 GO."

There were around 20 groups. The smart ones had already left. I would have, but I felt I was going to be needed so I stayed behind, even if that put me in danger. My house was exactly 1 hour away from campus.

"Group 19 GO" I was leaving with the last group.

"All right, I'm gonna leave with the last group. Anyone needs anything? Because I wont be here to help later."

My best friend Lilly, came near me. "Can I meet you with my daughter?" Lilly had been raped last year and had a 4 months old daugher, even while being the consequence of rape, she loved that little girl. "I'll try to take you to a safe place, but please, you have to go too."

"Last group LET'S GO."

We all ran away to our cars and in the distance we could already see the dark cloud of the flock. Immediatly all started to try to panic, but my orders were firmly in their minds. If we had to go, we had to go with dignity.

My cell started to buzz with text messages I programed the phone to "speak" them.

"Julia says "Already home. Thanks for your help. I hope everything goes alright to you. Get home safe."

"Mary says "Thank you Lana, yo saved our lifes, if not forever, at least long enough to be with our loved ones."

My heart was breaking with each message I got.

"Brandon says "Lana, I'm sorry for thinking you were just a show off and not a real person. You are the strongest woman I know and if I die, I'm sorry for mocking you. You are the best woman I know." Brandon was the hotty from the school. Such a complement should have been amazing, but not in these circunstances. Not because of these motives.

Every place I looked on the street was closed. Blinds down and doors locked shut. Good. Those would be the survivors. But old ladies were waiting on the street. I dared to stop and ask why they were there.

"Young woman, we are old. We have no family and death would be a blessing. Don't despair for us. We believe in the Lady and she'll take us to our loved ones."

I wanted to make them go inside. But we could see already, the individual smudges of the birds and a sense of urgency was riding me too hard.

"Goddess bless you." And I sped away. Moments later, I was already very far away, but the first ten Eagles got to them and their screams echoed in the houses. I sped as much as my car would allow and I used the hand brake, HARD, and ran inside the house. I got there just on time to close the blinds. And the screams began again.
