Paige and I were showered and under the blue blanket on my bed. She smelled like me. The lights were shut off except for the lamp sitting on my nightstand. I left if on so I could watch Paige drift off to sleep.
"You're so creepy," Paige mumbled, her eyes still shut with her head turned slightly away from me.
"Deal with it," I replied and reached over to shut off the lamp. My eyes adjusted to the darkness as the light dimmed down.
Paige shifted around on the bed into a different position and I got an even better view at her half-asleep face. Her damp hair stuck to her temples and I leaned over to push it behind her ears.
"Goodnight, Landon," Paige spoke softly before taking a deep breath. I pulled her closer to me and shut my own eyes.
My incessant alarm buzzed beside my head and I pulled an arm out from under Paige to slam my fist into it.
"What did the alarm clock ever do to you?" Paige smiled slightly as she stretched her arms above her head kicked the blanket away from her feet.
"Woke me up," I groaned, shut my eyes, and flopped back down into my pillow. I heard Paige's feet pad against the wood floor of my bedroom and then my bedroom door opened.
"I made you breakfast, get dressed," vanilla invaded my nose as Paige leaned over to whisper in my ear.
"I'd much rather have you for breakfast," I smirked up at her and opened one eye to find her shaking her head at me.
"I'm going to dump a glass of water on you," Paige spoke again as my eyes shut once more.
I turned on my side and rolled purposefully out of and off of the bed, landing beside Paige's feet.
"I'm up," I pushed myself off of the floor and onto my feet. When I stood, I pulled Paige into a hug and stuck my nose in her hair. Old Spice.
"Eggs and bacon?" I pulled away from
her she nodded proudly.
"Get dressed, we need to leave soon," Paige swatted my flannel-covered ass as I walked towards my closet to grab a shirt and some jeans.
"Aye aye captain," I saluted her as she walked out of my room, the sound of her shoes hitting the floor echoed in my ears.
I finally emerged from my bedroom dressed in a red and black shirt with jeans. My hair was tamed slightly and I sprayed some cologne all over myself before walking into the kitchen.
Paige was sitting on the counter with a book in her lap. I watched her slowly turn the page and glance up at me. I quickly looked away from her and to the plate in front of the barstools.
My breakfast was downed in minutes and I brushed my teeth before leading Paige out of my house and into my car.
"And it feels like I am just too close to love you," Paige shouted out into the car. Her in-seat dance moves were improving greatly and I chuckled as we pulled into the parking lot of the school.
I went to swerve into my spot and slammed on the breaks when I noticed somebody standing in the middle of my way.
"Is that..." Paige trailed off as she looked closer at the idiot in my spot, "Ryan,"
I laid my hand on the horn and he flinched slightly but didn't move any further away from his stance.
The spot behind mine was open so I put the car in reverse and flew backwards into it before climbing out of my car and stomping over to him.
"What the hell is your problem?" I shouted in his direction, causing everybody around to turn and look at us.
"You, Collins, you're my fucking problem," Ryan stepped back and I watched as he pulled his arm back into a fist and sent it flying into my jaw.
