I finally learned why my mother wrote those letters, it was a guidebook to my life without her. The boy she always mentioned was Cole and she knew it since the day I introduced him that afternoon in our living room. She knew all along who I was destined to be with, it was like magic. She taught me everything she knew about life and boys and I'm forever grateful for that. As I prepare to walk down the aisle today to become Mrs. Marissa Greer, I dig through the old letters mom wrote me. I picked out the last one, letter 365:
Marissa,
You made it, you know he's waiting for you. Your hearts connect into one, he's going to be the love of your life and stand by your side until forever. He has your faith intertwined with him. He will be the father of your children and make you proud. It was a rough journey to get where you are today but it was all worth it. Now go make him your husband, I'll be with you every step of the way. I love you.
-Mom
I folded up the letter and put it in the drawer. I looked myself in the mirror, I am my mother. I would not be the person I am if it wasn't for my mother.
"I love you mom." I whispered, standing from my vanity in my wedding dress.
I stood at the doorway and took one last look at my bedroom, "Goodbye mom."
