I woke up twenty minutes before my alarm so I decided I could have an extra-long shower this morning.

When I get out, I wrap myself in my towel and brush my teeth at the mirror. Once I'm done, I walk into my room.

For my clothes today, I decide on a plain black tee and some denim shorts. Of course I matched it with my converse.

I decide on adding a flick of mascara and a brush of pink lip gloss. I smile at my reflection, content with how I look.

I skip down the stairs but before I walk into the kitchen I hear a familiar voice. Frowning, I peek around the corner, to see Chris, sitting at the table talking to my Mum and Michael.

I gasp and they all turn their heads to at me. My mother has a smirk on her face, whereas Michael just has yoghurt all over his.

Chris gives me a goofy smile and a little wave.

"Hi, um... what are you doing here?"

"Allie! That's no way to speak to a guest," my mother scolds.

"No, it's fine Mrs Grey," Butt kisser, I think to myself. "She didn't know I was coming,"

I walk through the door, grab a yoghurt from the fridge and plop down in a chair next to Chris.

"I was just thinking we could walk to school together? Like we walked home yesterday," he says with a shrug.

I just nod and shove a spoonful of yoghurt into my mouth.

"Well!" My mother says, clapping her hands together. "You two had better be off,"

She tugs me up, my mouth still full of yoghurt.

"Ut – I ot eady oo oh," I mutter through the yoghurt. (But- I'm not ready to go)

"I don't care. Michael and I have a very busy day. Off you go,"

She shoves me towards the door. I roll my eyes, swallowing my mouthful and pick my bag up from the floor. Chris holds the door for me and I can hear my mother swooning from the kitchen.

Chris and I walk in awkward silence.

"So..." he starts. "Your mum's pretty cool,"

"Yeah," I reply awkwardly. "So ah Jakob and Ethan are pretty cool. Are you friends?"

"Yeah, we've been friends for ages. We met at -" his voice trails off.

"You met at...?" I ask, trying to get him to finish his sentence.

"Oh, right we met through a friend," I just nod but something is off.

I get lost in thought for the rest of the walk and before I know it, we're walking through the gates.

I go straight to my locker to put my stuff away. I have PE first up today. I run to the bathroom to get into my sports gear.

As I'm putting my normal clothes away, the bell echoes throughout the halls. I run off towards my homeroom for roll call.

After roll call we are dismissed and I head towards the auditorium. Most of my classmates are already there, including Ethan and Jakob.

When they spot me, they smile and wave me over. I start to walk over to them when I get shoved from the side.

"Hey, what gives?" I say, turning to a girl, and boy she's mad.

"What gives?" she laughs humourlessly. "What. Gives?"
