“Unbelievable!”

Jasmine was too proud of what I did. I am not actually. It was just an impulse reaction but I never wanted to have anymore arguments with people. I’ve had enough fights and worries with my dad.

“He was a complete jerk. I just gave him what he deserved.”

“A slap in the face – it’s what he deserved. Or more than that. I should have seen you in action.”

“Ha-ha-ha. Shut up! You know I don’t do that.”

“Why? Because he’s kind of cute?”

I stared at her with disbelief.

“What? I am just stating what I noticed. Don’t tell me you didn’t notice it too.” She continued.

“Cute? No way! Him and cute couldn’t be placed in one sentence. It doesn’t make sense. As a matter of fact, I am going home now. I don’t want to let daddy wait for me too long.” I sarcastically said.

“Alright. If you need anything, call me.”

“I will.”, which I know will never really happen. I didn’t want Jasmine to be included with all my dramas. She has enough to think about, and having to tell her would only mean adding up to those things she’ll be thinking. Don’t get me wrong, I love my best friend even though she’s a pain in my butt sometimes. But I don’t really open up myself to people. Maybe because even my own family wasn’t there to listen up.

“Hey dad.”

Silence.

“Have you eaten already? I brought some burgers for you.”

Silence.

“Okay. I’ll just leave it here in case you’re hungry.”

This has always been the scene. When I get home, he’s drunk again and we never really talk about anything. I mean, never. It’s a little exhausting at times. But it’s better than having to quarrel over little things.
