Aislinn's P.O.V:
“What do you want? I’m in a hurry.” I said as I hopped inside my car briskly. I didn’t wanna talk to anyone right now. After the news I heard from Ms. Perera about Rhiannon, I’m not in the greatest mood.
“I don’t know if you know me. But I’m Kimiko. I know your sister, Maxine......”
“Look, if you worried about the votes for the student council president thing, don’t worry about it. I’ll vote. Now leave me alone.” I said closing the driver's door, sticking the key into the ignition; beginning to drive off.
“Wait....... I’m not here for votes; although I highly appreciate it. It's about Rhiannon, there's something I must tell you-” She insisted as she start tapping on the passenger's seat window. I stomped on the brakes, causing the car to jerk up a bit.
“I’m not in for no rumors.” I said rolling down the windows.
“Trust me, what I have to say goes way beyond gossip. Believe me, I wouldn’t do a such thing; I’m just scared and worried.”
“You left the school premises, knowing that you can get written up for truancy and maybe get kicked out of the race, just to come and tell me your concern of Rhiannon. How did you even know I was here?” I questioned.
“Yes. I know how much you care about Rhiannon. You’re basically her guardian angel; always protecting her from getting hurt. I wished I knew or even had friends like that. In the senior class, everybody is in it for themselves. They don’t care about the thrive and success of others; just typical pop culture. I guess it's the reason why I’m running for president. Besides, I was heading to school until I saw a car swerve through the light. I thought it was you, so I came to check if you were okay. But you’re alright and you know what goes after that.” Her eyes pierced at my skin, so innocent; I felt kind of bad that I was being harsh to her. Then, I began to wonder about what she have to say about Rhiannon. Did Rhiannon do something that I didn’t know about? I’m getting tired of all the secrets. I’m always the last to find out things. That brings me to her parents. I wonder how they’re taking this. I bet they’re glad that they don’t have to deal with her anymore. Why did I even agree to watch over Rhiannon? It's not my responsibility to deal with this problem. But I must; for me. I wouldn’t feel right if she's not okay.
“Get in.”
“Excuse me.”
“I said ‘Get in’. I’m heading back to my house. You can tell me everything there.”
“Okay, cool.”
I let her get inside, put the gear in drive and drove off. I left the hospital with wonders flowing in and out of my mind. Rhiannon, Maxine....... I have to watch over them. They’re all I have right now. My dad and me don’t have the same jovial conversations that we do anymore. I glad I clear the flame for me and Maxine. I wouldn’t be able to stand up strong for this long without her. I hope she gets better. I can’t let her go. Not even for a minute. The drive back home is pretty silent. Kimiko, strapped by her seat belt, sat and glance at the ongoing traffic. I make a small glance towards her; she has everything going for her. Maxine told me that this girl have a good head on her shoulders. I’m starting to agree as well.
“Aislinn, watch out for the overtaking car.”
“Huh?”
“The car, Aislinn!!!!!!”
“Oh shit.” I made a right; the car swerve a bit. My heart thrown against my chest, finally exhaled. I can feel the sudden shock flowing through my veins. “Are you okay, Kimiko?”
“Yes. For a second there, I saw my life flashed before my eyes.”
“I had that feeling before....... when my mother died. She was my world, and still is; having her vanish from that perfect family portrait has left a scar on my life. I don’t know when I can ever start healing.....”
