four

i woke up next to you

and the sweet scent of your hair.

you were the autumn wind,

gently caressing my skin,

you were sugar,

with your voice as sweet as honey.

and as i watched the rainwater

pound against the glass window

like a downpour of fists,

a few thoughts that i shouldn't be thinking

slipped into my mind.

how long would we last?

until we see the golden glow of dawn?

through the darkness of the nighttime?

or would we part our separate ways

in the glory of the afternoon sunlight?

i didn't want to see your heart slipping away,

slowly, slowly,

like dew drops in the morning wind.

and i never wanted to watch

as you disappeared into the horizon,

never to be seen again.
