the sky

was a mix

of saccharide hues and marshmallow clouds,

swirled together into a colorful concoction.

it was cotton candy;

sweetly colored,

with flecks of gold

peeking out from the shadows.

the gradient blues

contrasted against the vibrant reds,

like bits of dust

collected above.

and it made me think—

if we were as insignificant as such,

then what was our love worth?

and whenever our eyes met,

what did you see in mine?

did you expect me to see something?

i didn't.

but,

whenever we gazed into the stars,

i saw you

and your eyes.
