"Go, Evan! Tackle him down!" I scream from the stands and I spot him looking up at me with a smirk on his face. I laugh at his face and he runs up to the stands as they call timeout. I lean over the edge and smile down at him for once. And it felt good to be taller than him.
"Continue the cheering, I noticed it's driving Patricia bonkers and Kayden is a little off in his game. It's working!" he whispers proudly and I grin proudly.
"Of course it is. I'm the best actor around. And I'm just so cute that nobody can disagree with me," I tease and he rolls his eyes instantly.
"You are so cocky sometimes," he says as he leans in further so our noses were almost touching.
"It's not cockiness if I know it," I joke and he laughs, his light and attractive laugh that had a hint of huskiness.
"You're so in for it," he says as he kisses me lightly on the nose and I smile.
"See, I'm too cute to resist!" I shout down at him as he hops down and waves at me.
"Come down here later and we'll see about that!" he shouts back up as he jogs back over to his team and I sigh contently. I had to admit, he was a good actor. Even I was almost convinced that he was into me. So I sit back and relax, spotting Kayden across the field.
He looked dashing in his football uniform. His hair shorter and more auburn. Almost an autumn leaves color. And he looked handsome with sweat coating his forehead. I begin to slip into a series of daydreams about me and Kayden when my phone buzzes the hell out of my poor butt.
"Yes?" I ask, a little irked from the sudden interruption.
"Why so grumpy bestie? I'm just about to give the good news!" Aria's voice answers me and I suddenly jump up. Aria has been my best friend since the second grade when she moved here. And she has been on vacation for the past three weeks.
"Oh my god! Hey! How has the Europe tour been?" I ask ecstatically. I hadn't heard from her in four days and whenever she called, she had some good things to dish out about Europe.
"Well, let's just say that I got more than just sugar. I got a honey and chocolate explosion!" she squeals and I gasp. I instantly get what she's saying.
"You didn't!" I exclaim, walking down from the bleachers so nobody could hear my talk with her.
"I did. Little Ria no longer has her v-card!" she shouts in excitement and I gasp even louder.
"Oh my god," I say, a smile on my face.
"Oh my god yes! You should've seen the guy! He was a ravishing stack of excellently cooked steaks that I could've eaten a few times over," she goes a little too into detail and I make a gagging noise.
"Ew!" I almost gag from her comparison and I could practically hear her eye roll all the way across the ocean.
"I swear he was created by the angels themselves! He was so perfectly chiseled and ooh! You should've seen his blue eyes! They were practically smoking from the intensity!" she continues and I laugh at her descriptions.
"Alright I get it, he was good looking. Now, what was the good news? Besides losing your virginity to a European teen," I say smiling, watching the football game while talking to her. I cheer as I see Kayden and Evan sprinting down the field passing the football.
"What are you yelling at?" she suddenly asks me and I chuckle.
"Oh, just cheering on my boyfriend at the football game," I blurt and my ear almost bursts from her squeal.
"WHO?!" she demands and I laugh a little harder.
"It's not who you're thinking, Ria. It's the one guy you told me that I would never work with," I give her the hint from our sleepover last year.
Last year, we went through all the boys in our grade and said how well they would fit each of us. And when we got to Evan, Ria said that he and I would never work. She had kept insisting that Kayden and I were meant to be. And I'm hoping that that is true.
"Oh. My. God," she gasps and I knew she understood. I laugh as she grows speechless.
"Don't hurt yourself with all the shock," I say and she gasps again.
"You're having sex with him aren't you?! Oh my god! You've become the friends with benefits girl from every pathetic eleven o clock cable drama show! Good lord! I'm gone for three weeks and suddenly you're shacking up with the most stuck up guy in the entire school?!" she exclaims and I laugh at her speech of worry.
"No, we're dating. And you're the one who's been crushing on him for the past year." I answer and she laughs loudly.
"You're kidding, right? Not to be hurtful sweetheart, but he isn't your type and you aren't his," she states and I smile knowingly.
"I know. I'll explain everything when you get back. Which will be when exactly?" I ask her, trying to get to a different topic.
"Oh, that's what I had to tell you. I will be back Monday afternoon," she announces and now it was my turn to burst her eardrums.
"HELL YES!" I exclaim and I hear Aria laughing on the other end of the phone.
"I will catch you later, sweet chica," she says before we both hang up.
I loved her to pieces. And she was coming back tomorrow! Thank god, I've been in dire need of discussing this whole Evan thing with somebody who I could tell the truth to.
Speak of the devil, he just made the winning score and was streaking straight towards me. I try to take huge steps backward so I wouldn't get tackled by him, but I was too late. He came barrelling towards me and I swung me through the air over his shoulder.
"Oh my god! So not the way you treat your girlfriend!" I exclaim, trying to hold down my lunch.
"Oh come on! I just won! Now, let's go celebrate," he says as he puts me down and wiggles his eyebrows at me. I roll my eyes as he grabs my hand and pulls me towards the parking lot.
I could already feel I was in for a long night.
