Confusion

When I'm being bitter about Valentine's Day why does everyone feel the need to say 'it's because you haven't been in love' Or something like, yes?? I don't enjoy this holiday because it has no relevance to me and it's ridiculously over marketed. I guess it's cute for some people but I'm too cynical for this
