Strangled screams were coming from down the hall. I jumped out of bed and put on my slippers. I wasn't sure what was happening but I had a pretty good idea. It was probably Bucky having his nightmares again.
Since I'm his girlfriend I'm usually the one to calm him down. I knocked gently on his door.
There was no response. I knocked again. "Buck?" I asked.
There was a scream. I gently opened the door. I flicked a light on.
Bucky lay on his bed tangled in his sheets. He let out another scream.
I ran to his bed. I sat beside him. I gently shook him to try and wake him.
"Bucky?" I coed, "Bucky it's okay it's just a dream. Wake up."
Nothing. He just kept wreathing as if in pain. "Bucky, come on." I whispered.
He sat up breathing heavy. He was in a cold sweat. But he was still asleep.
"Hey, it's okay I'm here." I told him stroking his back.
Bucky swatted at me. I jumped back nearly missing the blow. I was surprised. He's never done that before. Even in his nightmares. I guess this time was particularly bad.
I tried to approach him again. This time slowly. I stroked his shoulder. "Wake up it's okay." I coed.
He grabbed my wrist with his metal hand. Bucky was squeezing my wrist so hard it felt like my bones were being crushed. Which they probably were.
"Ow! Ow! Buck this hurts let go please!" I pleaded. He let go. I looked down at my wrist. It was all swollen and red.
But I wasn't about to quit on him.
"Wake up Bucky it's just a nightmare it can't hurt you, well physically, please wake up. You're not in any mortal danger."
"Shut up!" He spat viciously. Bucky swung at me. This time I wasn't careful so I was flung into the wall. I groaned.
"Shall I call the Avengers?" Jarvis asked over the system.
"No." I managed to say.
"Are you sure?" Jarvis asked.
"Positive, don't send anybody he needs to be coaxed out of this." I said.
"Who are you talking to?" Bucky demanded. He never really liked Jarvis.
"Jarvis, Stark's little computer system you know him." I tried to convince.
Bucky came up to me and gave me a sharp blow to the side. I shrieked. He picked me up with his metal hand and wrapped it around my throat.
"Shut up." He snarled. My breath was quickly fleeting.
"Bucky this isn't you come on wake up." I choked. His grip tightened. I couldn't speak or do anything really.
And then everything went dark.

Bucky's P.O.V.
I woke standing in the middle of my room. My girlfriend Alice lay at my feet. Panic overtook me. I kneeled beside her.
"Alice! Alice!" I screamed. She didn't stir. I saw bruises on her neck. I immediately knew what happened. I ran my fingers through my hair.
I did this. "Alice! Alice! No! No, no."
The rest of the Avengers came into the room. Steve gave me a questioning look. Her brother Tony gave me a murderous look.
He slammed me against the wall. "What did you do?" Tony demands.
I felt nothing but horrible overwhelming guilt. I hung my head.
"It was an accident." I mumbled.
"I knew I should've had you killed! You killed my parents and now my sister!" Tony exclaimed.
"Hey, hey she's not dead." Steve said pulling Tony away from me.
"That's good for Metal Boy but I still want him dead." Tony spat. He glared at me as he picked up Alice and carried her gently away. I stood just hanging my head low.

Alice's P.O.V.
"Alice! Alice!" Tony called after me. I turned on my heel.
"What?" I demanded.
"I don't want you going near him." Tony ordered.
"Why? You're scared of him?"
"Yes and you should be too, he's nothing but a mindless killing machine."
"You're wrong! He's so much more than that!" I paused, "he's a hero."
With that I stormed off leaving Tony standing there. I knocked on Bucky's door.
"Go away." He grumbled in response.
"It's me Alice." I said.
"Then I definitely want you to go away."
I opened the door. "No." I said sternly.
"I'm dangerous." Bucky said gruffly.
"So am I. I'm a deadly assassin."
"But your mind isn't polluted."
I went closer to him. So I was just inches away. I reached out to touch him. Bucky jerked away.
I reached out more. I stroked his metal arm. He looked uncomfortable.
"I'm not afraid of you, Bucky." I said gently.
"You should be."
I sat in his lap and wrapped my arms around him. Pressing my forehead against his.
"But I'm not."
