"Are you ever not here?" Bucky asked as he walked into the Corner of the Page the bookstore I owned.
"I come home every night don't I?" I replied looking up from my book and smiling.
"You didn't tonight." Bucky said. My smile faded I looked at the counter. I went silent.
"I scared you badly this time didn't I?" Bucky asked softly.
My hand slowly went to the bruise on my neck. I couldn't bring myself to look up at him. Last night he had choked me again to the point where I passed out. And this morning I fled the house to work cause he was still in his Winter Soldier mode cause I wasn't there to help him. Tears immediately went streaming down my face.
"I'm so so sorry Bucky, I should've I should've been ther-" he cut me off.
"It was many a year ago, in a kingdom by the sea,"
I was confused by his words. "Bucky, what?"
He just kept going and I soon realized what he was reciting.
"That a there maiden lived whom you may know by the name of Ana Starkly, and this maiden she lived with no other thought than to love and to be loved by me. And I loved her.
She was a child and I was a child in this kingdom by the sea. But we loved with a love that was more than love I and my Ana Starkly. With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven coveted her and me.
The only problem is that I'm a monster and can't fathom why my Ana Starkly loves me so.
That is why the winged seraphs came down from heaven and bore my beautiful Ana Starkly away from me. Cause I'm a monster who can't be trusted and the seraphs they thought that I should stay away from she.
So I leave her now my beautiful beautiful Ana Starkly in this kingdom by the sea. I just want her know that I will forever love her so and neither the angels above nor the demons below can ever truly dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful Ana Starkly."
Bucky finished and turned to leave.
His revised version of Annabel Lee shattered my heart into a million pieces. I loved it. And I loved him more than anything and here he was saying goodbye.
"Wait!" I cried hoping over the counter to catch up with him. Bucky stopped and turned to face me.
  "You wrote that?" I asked.
"I had help from Edgar Allan Poe." Bucky mumbled.
  "It's beautiful." I said truthfully.
"Thanks." He turned to leave again.
I put my hand on his shoulder and turned him around.
"Please don't leave." I begged tears flowing down my cheeks.
  "I don't see how I can stay."
"With me that's how you will, please. Bucky I am so so sorry I left you in your darkest hour, I was scared so scared I didn't know what to do but I promise I swear on my life no matter how bad it gets I'll never ever leave again. I love you Bucky. More than anything and you're anything but a monster."
  "I am a monster."
"No, no you're not I mean could a monster write something so beautiful and heartfelt like that?"
"If I'm not a monster then what am I?"
"You're mine Bucky or at least I hope you are." I said, "please don't leave I love you and I need you."
Bucky smiled. He wrapped his arms around me and held me close. I planted a my lips on his. Eagerly taking in his scent and everything I loved so so much about him.
  I've never felt safer.
