I motioned to Isaac to hide. He ran and slid underneath the bed, I followed after.
I heard the door swing open. Two pairs of sneakers walked into the room. A pink pair and a blue pair. One seemed to be above the ground.
Isaac whimpered. I recognized the pink pair. Kathleen's.
The man pulled the mattress off the bed and I saw Laura's father holding Kathleen by the neck.
Isaac reached for her, desperately trying to pull her down.
"So, child." Said Laura's father, his voice booming. "Now, either I kill you, or your sister!"
Kathleen clenched tightly to the hands wrapped around her neck.
I turned to Isaac. He seemed in panic.
"Isaac!" I shouted.
He fell to the ground. I knew this scene before. He was having a hallucination. Sweeping through him like a tornado, sending his body into shutdown mode.
"Take me first!" I screamed, spitting at the man. I stood up and hit him across the face with my flashlight, leaving a bleeding scar on his nose.
"Well, I could always kill my son, instead." He laughed meanly. He dropped Kathleen to the ground and watched as she gasped for breath. The man pointed his gun at Isaac.
"What?" I asked.
"Oh!" The man said in a mock teenage girl voice. "O.M.G! Isaac's dad is a killer!"
He pointed his gun at me.
"But Isaac's parents are dead!" I shouted. I kicked the man's foot as he fell over.
"Isaac!" I screamed. "Get up Isaac!"
I grabbed Isaac's hand and helped him up. I picked up Kathleen and rushed out the door. At least she wasn't killed.
"Mum!" I screamed.
My mother came out, tears streaming down her usually smiling face.
"Mum?" I asked. "What's wrong?"
"He shot her!" Shouted my mother. "He killed her in cold blood! Four bullets to the chest!"
Exactly the way Laura died.
I ran into the living room, plopping Kathleen on the couch.
"Oh my god." I felt my face get red.
There in the middle of a floor, lying in a puddle of blood, was Isaac's mother.
