I turned back towards the doctor.
"When can we go?" I asked quickly.
"You both got shot," He sighs. "I'm thinking at least a week, but if you don't recover in time...."
Isaac groaned and rolled over to face the ceiling.
"Also, someone's here to see you." The Doctor said. I jolted up, but immediately regretted it, for the fact it made my chest sore.
"Ow." I sighed.
"Let the visitor in." Isaac said extremely quickly.
The doctor opened the door.
And my boss, Mr. Brodsky walked inside.
"Aw, the lovebirds got shot together." He said. "That's extremely cute."
I groaned, hoping Isaac would glance at me with his disapproving look, but no, he was smirking his ass off.
"Isaac!" I snapped.
"Jeez, Marcy!" He replied.
"So Marcy, who's this guy?" He asked, motioning to Isaac.
"That's Isaac." I replied. I glared at him. Isaac seemed to be grinning from ear to ear.
Suddenly my boss got called out of the room.
"Sorry, kids!" He said. He ran outside.
I laid my head back down but felt something on my foot. I looked up to see a metal locket.
"Hey!" I said. I picked up the locket with my foot and dropped it onto my chest. I moved my hand slowly and picked it up.
I opened it to see a picture of a young looking girl, at most seventh grade. She had a speckling of freckles across her nose. She had dirty blonde hair, and brown eyes, just like my boss. Below her picture was a small inscription which read
Julia Brodsky
1996-2014

"Well that's depressing." I said, realizing she was only 17 when she died. And then it hit me. This was Mr. Brodsky's daughter.
I turned the locket so I could see the picture on the other side.
It seemed to be a wedding photo of a beautiful woman. She had long, wavy blonde hair and blue eyes.
Her inscription read:

Alesha Brodsky
1978-2014

Suddenly tears filled my eyes.
"Doctor!" I yelled. A doctor came in.
"Can I help you?" He asked.
"I want to access some public records." I said. "For a project."
I glanced at Isaac. He shot me a questioning look.
"We don't have public records at a hospital." The man said.
"Then take me where they do." I snapped. I got out of the bed, ignoring the humongous pain which filled my body. Immediately I fell to the ground.
"You're not strong enough to support your own weight yet!" The doctor said. He ran to me and struggled me back into the hospital bed.
Without thinking, I kicked him.
"Sorry!" I said. "My reflexes!"
The doctor nodded, holding his nose. A bit of blood dropped onto his blue uniform. He shook his head.
"It's ok." He said. "Good reflexes though. If you really want to see these records, I can get an officer to help you access them. It may cost you."
I shoved a fist into my pocket and pulled out a hundred dollar bill.
"Get him in here now, and there's another hundred in it for you."
The doctor quickly ran out of the room.
"We're equal." I said to Isaac. "We both paid off government workers now."
Isaac smirked, remembering the time he'd paid off an entire asylum. It was hard to believe that was only a week ago.
Suddenly the doctor ran back in.
"Your lucky!" He said. "The sheriff was here doing an inspection!"
"Good." I snapped, slipping more money into the doctor's hands.
The sheriff sat down at a chair next to my bed.
"I have everything recorded right here." Said the men, opening his awfully large and bulky laptop. "What do you need to know?"
"Brodsky, Julia." I said. "Tell me everything about her records."
"Ah, no need for a record to tell you about her." He said. He closed his laptop and set it down on the table.
"Julia was the mischievous type." The man said. "She went missing to run off with a guy she'd met at school. And I'll tell you what legend says."
The sheriff leaned closer to whisper in my ear.
"They all said she had psychosis." He said, his surprisingly cold breath giving me chills. "But what she could do, it was amazing. Her and the boy she'd met both had the power to see the future in their hallucinations."
The sheriff sat back in his chair, folding his arms behind his head.
"But that's just legend of course, and she got killed by some psycho." He said, he chuckled, giving me creeps.
"Thanks, uh, you can go now." I said, wondering why nobody told me this before.
The man got up from his seat, picked up his laptop, and walked out.
"What was that all about?" Isaac half shouted.
I held up the locket and showed TO to him. His eyes scanned the pictures.
"Hey! I wonder if my hometown was named after her!" Isaac said, trying to point at the girl's name. "Remember? Brodsky County!"
I shivered at the name. I remembered how at least a month ago, Kathleen was still alive, Isaac's foster mother was still alive. The only thing that mattered then was my stupid psychosis.
I sighed.
"This is Mr. Brodsky's locket." I said. "We have to give it back to him. It probably means a lot to him."
"I'd say." Isaac replied.
Suddenly the door opened again.
"Hey! I brought you lunch!" Said a nurse, holding two trays with disgusting looking food in them.
"Great." I muttered. "Delicious."
