Chapter 39

John's POV

Sherlock and I were at my house, lying on my bed. We had been staying at my house through out our time off, and I think we were both thoroughly enjoying our time together, but at that current time, Sherlock was fidgeting. "I'm bored, John," Sherlock whined.

"Hmm," I hummed, continuing to read my book, every now and again glancing up at my large canvas that Sherlock gave me. He had the picture of us by the waterfall at camp put on a canvas and gave it to me for Christmas.  I had brought him a new microscope, and though he insisted I gave him the better gift, I knew his was better. I loved that picture almost as much as the boy beside me.

"John, I said I'm bored," Sherlock nuzzled into me like a cat, knocking my book out of my hands.  chuckled and allowed him to rest his head on my chest, and I stroked his hair lovingly.

"You're so daft," I chuckled lovingly.

"You love it."

"Of course I do." I kissed the top of his head. "What should we do then?"

"Let's go for a walk."

"A walk?" Sherlock nodded enthusiastically, reminding me of a young, eager child. I laughed again and agreed with him. "Alright, let's go then."

We got up and walked downstairs hand in hand. Mum smiled at the two of us as she saw us. "Hey, boys. Where are you two of to?"

"We're going for a walk," I told her.

She nodded as we walked out the door. "I like your mum," Sherlock said as we walked along the pavement. It was a bleak day, but neither of us minded. We had each other, and that's all that mattered.

"Mum likes you. I wouldn't be surprised if she threw me up for adoption to claim you."

Sherlock chuckled and cuddled into my side as we walked. He was in a surprisingly loving mood. "Then would adopt you."

"That is a confusing cycle, and I doubt you'd be able to do that. Laws and stuff."

Sherlock shrugged. "I'd find a way."

"I'm sure you would." I laughed as we walked along to the large playground. Harry and I always used to go to that park when we were younger, and so did all the other children in the community, but then for some reason everyone just stopped going there, so Harry and I stopped going too.

It was desserted, and Sherlock and I smiled at each other. "Race you to the swings?" Sherlock asked.

"You're on."

"On your marks, get set, go!" Sherlock was off as soon as he said 'go' and it took me a second to comprehend, but I was already well behind. I sprinted as fast as I could, ending up matching Sherlock's pace, and we got to the swings at the same time, falling into them, panting loudly.

"You may have long legs, but I play rugby," I commented with a laugh.

"And yet you're still panting. You're out of practise, Love."

"I know. We've not long till we're back at school though, then I'll be back to training.  I'll be able to beat you in a race any day."

"Oh really?" Sherloc jumped off his swing and stood in front of me, a sexy, challenging look on his face.

"You shouldn't stand in front of people on swings. It's very dangerous," I pointed out, trying to mask the sexual tension between us.

"Oh, I don't intend on standing here for long," Sherlock responded.
