Chapter 7: Old and new faces

Raven runs a hand through his hair "I wasn't expecting this to happen so soon" Silver looks towards the lake and walks over to its edge "what do you mean by that?" "Look I know you're annoyed and, most likely, scared" "of course I bloody am, I've just been chased through a hidden desert city by a lunatic with lances" Silver raises his voice almost to a shout "I know, we call him lance." "We?" Gaia glares at Raven. "We, me and my children, Dawn and Dusk. Well, just Dawn" Raven leans against the tree "he's an experiment, designed to live forever with the help of human and animal DNA, but he believes that any hybrid needs to be purged, which is why he was after you Silver" "and he won't stop until he finds me, is that correct?" Raven nods "I'll keep running for a while then, make sure he can't find me" a small grin sneaks onto Silvers face and his ears raise slightly. A small bolt shoots from between the trees and hits Silver, forcing him back and over the edge of the lake, as he falls Raven runs and leaps off  towards Silver.

The sound of silence hangs in the air, only to be broken by someone laughing as three figures emerge from the darkness created by the forest of trees. The man in white speaks up "that was too easy, slightly boring." He walks past Gaia and looks over the edge "call me mist, not my real name, but I don't care" Gaia glares at the man "locorum" the ground begins to shake underneath him "break open" the ground slowly cracks open underneath causing him to teeter on the edge. "That was a close one" he says, looking towards Gaia "what's wrong did I kill your boyfriend?" Gaia moves her arms diagonally towards him sending chunks of rock flying at Mist "I'll kill you, you bastard!".  

After a few moments of rocks bombarding Mist, Gaia stops and sees him on the floor unconscious, she walks over and picks up a heavy rock, as she goes to throw it on his head, the sound of wings flapping distracts her and Raven appears above the lake, with Silver grabbing onto his legs. "Your arms... they're wings." Silver looks up in shock "yep, i know animagus magic, pretty cool" Raven flaps over to the ground and plants them both down "what do we do about him then?" A loud thud is heard and they both look over to Gaia, tears showing in her eyes "I thought I lost you" she runs over and hugs Silver "I don't die that easily, the impact took me by surprise" he walks over to Mist "what about him" one of the other figures steps forwards "do it" the third raises their hand, their piercing green eyes meet Ravens and a feminine voice whispers "I'm sorry" a black chain erupts from them, tying Raven, Silver and Gaia up "I'm so... so sorry" they walk over to Mist "stay here and make sure they either die or end up unconscious" he speaks before picking up mist and disappearing in a spark of electricity.

She walks over to the three moving her hand in a claw formation, causing the chains to grow tighter "I can't stop it" Raven looks back to her "I know you don't. Want to kill. Us" he says in between breathes "I don't" "then please release us" "I want to" she looks between them and a flash of pain erupts through her, she starts screaming "NO! Please don't!" The chains fall to the ground, Raven rushes over, changing his hand into a claw, grabs the girl and holds his talons imfornt of her neck "answer my questions or I won't hesitate to rip open your throat" "y-yes sir" "who were those two" "Mist and V-v-volt" Silver looks into the girls green eyes, scanning her features, from her red hair, to a red scar on her cheek "why were they here?" She remains silent, and Raven place she his talon on her throat " to kill Silver! He knows too much!" "What do you mean?" "His f-father" Silver steps towards them "wait, let me ask something first."

Skye stares at herself on the mirror and laughs "Silver has a nice house, might keep his diary with me for a bit, might be useful" she walks out the bathroom into the hallway and downstairs "Seraph! Can we go now?" "In a moment" he walks out the living room with two suitcases "we need to be careful" "didn't expect you to be the careful one, more the carefree one" "sometimes I have to, now remember, we are" he places the bags on the floor, lifting two of his fingers up and bends them slightly as he says the next word "together" Skye tilts her head "so that airport security will not detects us, also we are meeting up with a friend to change our appearance" they both carry the bags out of the house and walk down the street into town "my friend owns a styling  shop where she can change what someone looks like but only for a few hours, should be enough to get on a flight to Crystalia"

After a half hour of walking they arrive at a small shop "this is the place" Seraph smallest and walks inside "psst, Karma, we're here" a girl with rainbow hair and red eyes steps out of the shadows "finally" she pulls a lever and two chairs emerge from the floor "now sit and I'll be done quickly" they both sit down "now, this may hurt, but it's just a small prick" they both feel a small pain as a needle is plunged into their neck and sleep overcomes them.

The moon rises high into the sky as both Seraph and Skye wake up and glance towards each other "what the hell Karma! We both look the same!" Karma walks out the back room "to each other, yes, to everyone else. Well they won't recognise you." "Oh" Seraph says "also" her hair changes to a bright red "never, talk like that to me again! Got it!" Her voice raised into a menicing shout "yes, I'm sorry" "good" her hair changes to a light blue "now you should both go before you miss, whatever it is you're doing" they both get up to leave and walk out "thanks Karma, you're always my favourite chameleon" Seraph says as the door closes behind him "I'm the only chameleon you know, you dipshit!" Her hair and eyes turn pink for a few seconds before going back "sometimes I wonder why we're even friends" she starts quietly and goes back to work.

"Remind to thank Karma for these disguises" skye whispers as they both take their seats in a round dome "she's great, but could also beat up anyone who hurts her" skye laughs "I'll take your word for it then" Skye rummages through her bag and pulls out a small book, Seraph looks over "why do you have Silver's diary?" "I'm curious about him, want me to read it out loud to you" she smiles, a small hint of excitement in her eyes "fine, but keep it quiet" "okay" Skye turns to a random page and begins reading out loud, trying to mimic Silver's voice " today I found my dads journal, like father like son I suppose, but anyway, he makes reference to gems, a weapon and several events that happened eons ago according to my history books" Skye glances at Seraph "this sounds interesting, do you suppose Boreas was on this track as well" "I guess so, if we are going now, it only makes sense he was, anyway, keep reading" Skye clears her throat "he also makes reference to a girl, April, I think her name is, apparently he was in love with her, green eyes, short hair. Although I never meet her, I don't know anyone really, even my dad left with someone named Raven" Skye flips the page over "I guess I'll stop writing for now, but I feel like I'm close to something, good or bad, I don't know... I'll hope for the former" 

"Who do you think this Raven and April are" "I don't know, but the name Raven is why we are heading to Cyrstalia, so it must be important" Skye looks around the circular room at the other passengers "they're all asleep" "yep, this is a transport sphere, it moves between places and if people fall asleep, it wakes them up upon arrival" "I guess we should sleep then, otherwise we will be restless" Skye smiles slightly "I wonder if Silver is ok" she whispers as they both fall into sleep.

Silver approaches the green eyed women "what is your name, if you tell me, I promise that we will let you go"  "you can't promise that" "Raven with all due respect, shut the fuck up right now" "wow Silver. Didn't think you could act like that" Gaia looks over "I need to know something, it might be important" he gazes into the women's eyes "I promise, if you tell me, we will make sure you get home safely, do you understand?" She nods slightly, careful not to catch her skin on the talon "m-my name is..." she gulps slightly, her eyes show fear "would you like to talk to me alone?" She nods slightly "Raven, release her" "I can't do that, she might attack us" "you saw what happened, we outnumber and can outmatch her, just do it" Raven let's go and Silver walks away with the women towards the lake "now, can you tell me your name please?" She looks over the lake and speaks softly "my name is... April"
