Lately on missions you've been getting more and more clumsy. The rest of the team worried about you, quite frankly you had no idea what was wrong. But it became clear when you and the paladins stopped on the way back from a mission to get a few things.
You and the team were walking through a market when Hunk excitedly gasped. "Ooh (Y/N)! They have that candy you like! We should get some."
You, having a great love for food didn't know what kind he was talking about.
"Which one?" You asked, looking at Hunk.
"It's the one in the red packaging, the sign is right over there."
"Where?" You questioned, squinting your eyes.
"Are you okay (Y/N)? The sign is like fifteen feet away."
"Can you seriously not see that? You might be nearsighted." Pidge said, building a theory.
"Ppppft, no! Pidge, of course I'm not. My vision is fine." You countered.
Hunk looked at you with concern. "Okay, but you're going to an optometrist just in case. I don't want you to get hurt." Hunk said, resting a hand on your shoulder.
"Hunk, never fear, I'm as fine as ever!"You were probably one of the most stubborn people in existence, so you didn't dare say that you indeed needed glasses. You struggled along for the next few days. Hunk knew what you were doing and would ask you about far away objects to prove that you couldn't see.
Such as one day where you were walking past the kitchen while Hunk was cooking. "Hey, (Y/N) I need your help for a second!" You walked into the kitchen to see Hunk standing on a step stool with his left arm extended toward the top shelf and his right stabilizing his balance on one of the lower shelves. "Could you tell me which one is the flour? I'm making a cake." Hunk asked, smiling adorably at you.
"Okay..." You started. You couldn't see the items on the shelf from where you were and Hunk was sure to get suspicious if you were to get closer. "Umm, move your hand to the right a little." You were totally guessing at this point.
"Is this it?" Hunk asked, touching a strange shaped object, slightly bigger than his hand."
"Yeah, you got it." You replied. You really hoped it was a flour of some sort.
Hunk retrieved the item and stepped down from the small ladder. "I knew it! I knew you couldn't see!" He said practically jumping up and down.
"What do you mean? Is that not flour?" You asked, trying to sound like you actually knew what the item was.
"Oh, goodness no. It's one of Allura's mice." Hunk said approaching you from across the kitchen. As he got closer, you saw that the item you hoped was flour, was the largest mouse out of the group of Allura's companions.
"Oh, um I knew that I was just playing a prank on you... hah I got you good, right!" You desperately tried to save yourself, but to no avail.
Hunk looked at worryingly. "Why don't you want glasses, (Y/N)? They would help you see so much better."
"I feel like having glasses would make me look vulnerable. Also, I'm not as smart as you or Pidge so people would think that it's weird for someone like me to have them considering the whole 'they're smart because they have glasses' stereotype." You said, looking at the floor and fidgeting with the gen of your shirt. When you looked back up, you saw Hunk was smiling, laughing in fact.
"(Y/N) having glasses doesn't make you look weak, it's just glasses. Also, if someone judges your intelligence by your appearance, they're wrong. You rely on instincts, not necessarily book smarts, and that's okay. There are different kinds of smart. Either way, with or without glasses, you are still a member of this team. But you should go to an optometrist."
You smiled.
"Thank you Hunk. I'm only going to an optometrist if you come with me." Right then Hunk and you made a deal that you guys would go the following day.Hunk was very supportive through the whole process. One time when the doctor asked you which slide was better and you got too nervous and tried to run for the door. But of course because of the eye drops, which made your vision blurry you fell on several cords and chair legs. From then on you sat in the chair, holding Hunks hand to calm you down.
After you got your prescription, the both of you headed to the glasses store on a different planet that was close by. You tried on frame after frame and even messaged the others with pictures for their approval. You finally found a pair that fit your face perfectly. Excited you turned around to show Hunk.
"Yes! Those are the ones!" He beamed at your choice. The frames you chose were black on the outside, but held a tad of yellow on the interior.
After you paid for the glasses the two of you flew home. While you piloted, Hunk was in the passenger seat.
"(Y/N)~?" Hunk said, peering over at you. "When we land, can I try on your glasses?"
"Sure, I bet Lance will want to try them on too." You both chuckled as you flew the rest of the way home.Upon arriving at the castle you saw the rest of the team awaiting for your arrival in the landing deck. When you got out Allura ran up to you. "You look adorable! Show the others!" As Allura backed away, the others saw your glasses. You didn't know what the big deal was, as Hunk said, they were just glasses.
"You look good, (Y/N). Now we match!" Pidge smiled at you.
"OOOH! Can I try them on? I'll be careful, I promise. Please!" Lance begged you.
"One second, I promised Hunk I would let him try them when we landed."
You carefully took the glasses off your face and placed them on the bridge of Hunk's nose.
"Well, how do I look, (Y/N)?" Hunk asked as he stroke a pose.
"Charming, they suit you." You said with a small blush. Hunk didn't respond as his cheeks heated up. Lance stepped forward and took the glasses off of Hunk, placing them on himself.
"Whoa! (Y/N) I had no idea you were this blind!" Lance said in amazement.
"I'm not blind dummy, I'm simply nearsighted." You pouted.
"Hah, so this is why you thought the mouse was a bag of flour."
"Hunk! You told them!" You whipped around facing Hunk.
"Sorry, I just couldn't resist, it slipped out." Hunk said, scratching the back of his head.
"But it is pretty funny." Allura giggled.
"Maybe a little." You said smiling over at Hunk.
Hunk gave you a large smile and slung his arm over your shoulders. That night you got pictures of everyone in your glasses. But out of everyone, Hunk looked the cutest.
