Time Apart (Keith x reader)

You and Keith had been seeing each other for quite some time. You had begun dating while at the Garrison and since then grew really close. You and Keith had been together through everything the Voltron team had faced so far. Today you came along on your first mission.
The objective was to capture a team of bandits that have been ransacking homes in a nearby village. You and Keith planed to chase the group out toward the town where Hunk and Shiro would be waiting. Then they would hold them off until Pidge came around with the ship used for detaining criminals.

You and Keith creeped toward the thief's hideout, careful not to make too much noise. You unsheathed your blade and Keith got out his bayard. You approached the hideout and waited for Keith to give you the signal. He kicked down the door and said "Go go go." You and him swiftly herded the thieves out of the hideout and began to run them toward the village where the others waited. The two thieves running in front of you nodded to each other and one branched off and began to run to the right.
"Hey, get back here!" Keith yelled at the thief.

"Don't worry! I'm on it babe." You shouted to Keith as you began running toward the rogue thief.

"No, (Y/N)! Come back, it's not worth it!" Keith yelled to you. However, you couldn't hear him while you chased the thief down. You planned how you would capture the thief in your head and set your idea into motion.

"Hey, asswipe!" You shouted at the thief. They turned around for a brief second. Long enough for you to launch the handle of your blade toward the thief. They fell with a thump once your blade handle smacked them square in the face. Then you hauled them onto your shoulder and dragged them to the meeting spot.

"What the hell were you thinking?" An angry Keith asked once you arrived.

"I was catching the bad guy. What's wrong with that?" You questioned.

"What's wrong is that you could've gotten hurt. Also you threw your knife! Who does that?"

"I knew I wouldn't miss. Also I can take care of myself." You sassed back.

"Don't say stuff like that. You could've used help and you know it. You should've listened to me when I said to let him go."

"Keith, I don't see the problem. We caught the criminals, I didn't compromise the mission, and I was really badass just then."

"Maybe you just shouldn't have come on the mission. You should stay home from now on. That would be the best thing for you right now." Keith said.

"Oh! And you think you can decide that? I can make my own decisions, Keith. Maybe you don't know what's best for me. Maybe the best thing for me right now is a break from you!" You yelled, getting frustrated.

"Yeah! Maybe a break is what we need!"

"Fine!"

"Fine!" You both growled and walked away. Leaving the rest of your team confused and feeling rather uncomfortable.

It's been four days and you and Keith couldn't even be in the same room together. This was putting everyone on edge. The castle had a thick tension because of you two. But you weren't going to give in anytime soon. You were known for being extremely stubborn when it came to these things.
On the fifth day you got called down to the dining room along with the rest of the team. You walked through the doors and took your seat. "What's up?" You questioned.

"Oh, you'll see." Lance said with a devious face.

"Doors close and lock." Shiro said from the head of the table. "You two have been causing a lot of tension and distress these past few days. I've called you here to work things out in a group." You stared at Shiro in disbelief and made your eyes around to the others, your eyes eventually meeting with Keith's. You turned away immediately. Refusing to even meet his eyes. "The sooner you work things out, the sooner you can leave." Shiro said.

"Or I could just bust out of here." You challenged.

"The doors only open on my command." Shiro replied. You got up from your seat and went over to the vents on the wall. Before anyone knew what you were thinking, you took the vent off the wall and climbed inside, running like hell. "Get back here! Real immature of you (Y/N)!" Shiro reprimanded you from a far as you tried to navigate the vents.

You had been going through the vents, taking turn after turn. You had gotten yourself lost. You eventually reached a section of the vent that you were in the middle of crawling through when suddenly you heard a creak. The next thing you knew, you were on the cold floor of some room. You took a look around and noticed it instantly. It was Keith's. Out of all the rooms you could have fallen into from the ceiling, it had to be Keith's. Of course! You heard someone clear their throats and tried to scurry out of the room. "(Y/N)! Wait. Please!" Keith pleaded. You looked over your shoulder.

"What?" You asked in a vicious tone.

"Maybe we should try to talk it out. We are making it really awkward for the others." Keith said in a soothing voice.

"Okay. I'll try it." You gave in, looking at him expecting him to begin speaking.

"The only reason that I really got mad at you on the mission was because I was scared for your safety. You could've gotten hurt over something I did. I don't know what I would've done if you got hurt because I couldn't handle the situation." Keith was looking at the floor, seeming rather disappointed in himself. It really broke your heart to see him like this.

"Keith, if something did happen, I wouldn't blame you. You're an amazing leader and what I do or how I mess up wouldn't be your fault in any way." You paused. "You might have gotten mad, but you tried to handle the situation the best you could. I'm sorry I overreacted. I love you and hope you can forgive me." You stood there looking down at the floor. Keith took a few large steps and engulfed you into a hug. You had never seen him so emotional before.

"I love you so much you don't even understand, (Y/N). I'm sorry I yelled. I'm so lucky to have someone so understanding." He gripped you harder and you nuzzled your face into his jacket.

Hey! Thank you guys so much for reading this book. I'm going to work on the requests I have for now but sometime soon I'm planning on starting a (various x reader) book and a (haikyuu x reader) book!
