Before you met Pidge nothing in your life really clicked together. You were smart and had some friends, but you didn't feel that you truly belonged anywhere. At the Garrison you did fairly well in your class and was with one of the top groups. However within the first month at the Garrison you were made fun of simply because during a stupid game of truth or dare you said you liked girls. From then on a group at the Garrison made fun of you at lunch. So to avoid them you would go to the roof. The sky was vast there, you felt like you could escape. You had been selected for the elite training that would take place for all of next year, of course you would accept. Staggering through your next year was going to be a challenge, you knew it.

You stepped into the Garrison and exhaled at the fact that you only had to survive this year and then you were able to move on with your life. You walked into the orientation for your last time taking a random seat. After the orientation you headed to the main corridor where the students in the elite program answered questions that the others had. The most common question was where their dorms were or where the cafeteria was, so you could most likely get through this quickly. Eyeing the new recruits coming through the doors you saw diversity among them with hair, height ,and skin tone. But your eyes drifted to a smaller figure at the edge of the crowd. Your eyes enlarged and danced at the vision of her. She had short hair that stuck out in adorable waves and floated around an adorable yet strong face with cute features. The uniform was a little loose on her giving the look that she was even smaller than she already was. To top off her altogether adorable look, she had large glasses resting on a petite nose. Your heart practically leaped from your chest. She was the greatest thing you've ever layer eyes on without a doubt. She had taken your heart in mere seconds and without trying. You tried to control your blush as you turned away to attempt to regain your composure. Footsteps swirled around you as you thought about the girl you just saw and how purely beautiful she looked.
"Excuse me?" A soft voice rang out from behind you, you turned to see the very girl who whisked your heart away in mere seconds. You could feel temperature rise to your face as you looked at her light brown eyes.

"Um...uh. Yeah." You managed to stutter out.

"Would you happen to know where I could gain roof access? If you wouldn't mind i would rather keep it between us." You blushed as you thought of showing her such a sentimental place to you. You decided why not. Beckoning for her to follow you, you lead the way to the roof. That was where your story began. You were the one to help Pidge get the scraps and equipment to build her computers to detect the alien activity. And you have been with her ever since. Now you were living together in the castle and were closer than best friends.

You continued to help Pidge with her experiments and projects in her lab, she enjoyed your company and got your opinions on ship modifications.
One day you and her were laying around as she fiddled with a microchip she had been working on for the last few days. You loved these types of days, the ones that you and Pidge would just lie around together. You laid with your face to the ground and her next to you as you made small talk.

"Hey, (Y/N)?" Pidge asked.

"Yes, Einstein?"

"What was your time in the Garrison like before I came along?" Pidge turned to face you and you sat up from the floor.

"Lonely. I had few friends, also I was kind of bullied, but I'm glad I stuck around that place or I wouldn't have met you." Pidge sat up next to you.

"Why did they make fun of you?" Pidge asked.

"Because they were insecure so they made fun of the fact that I like girls." You stated.

"That's dumb, liking girls isn't that big of a deal. I like girls."

"Wait. Pidge, you like girls?"

She tuned to you. "Yeah, I thought you could tell. Truthfully I've had a kind of a crush on you since that day you showed me the roof at the Garrison. Since then you've been my best friend. Thank you for being so amazing."

"You're the best, and truth be told, I fell head over heels for you the first day at the Garrison. I'm shocked you didn't notice how red and flustered I was, I felt like an idiot."

Pidge looked like the gears in her head were turing briefly. "Ohhh, that's why! I walked in the first day with Lance, we both saw you and he said you were probably freaking out over him."

You couldn't help but to laugh. "Of course Lance would say that. But he was wrong. I was acting like a complete fool because I saw you for the first time."
Pidge turned to you and smiled.

"Awe! Really? The only reason I went up to you to ask where the roof was because I had to talk to you in some way. I already knew the layout of the building." Pidge smiled at you.

"How did you know the layout?"

"Uh, I'm a spy."

"I'd believe it." You joked as you scooted closer. Pidge hummed as she put down her project and wrapped her arms around you. "I'm glad I met you that day."

"Me too." Pidge said as she hugged you and snuggled closer. You laid there in each other's arms in the empty lab. No talking was heard but you enjoyed each other's company nonetheless. You thought back to the fateful day you two met. Since that day you felt that you had a place you belonged, that place was next to Pidge. You felt that you fit in whenever you were with the nerdy, beautiful and caring paladin. Eventually the two of you passed out in each other's arms, the light of the stars illuminating the lab through it's windows. The only sound that occupied the lab was your and Pidge's gentile breaths as you slept in each other's embrace.
