"this is the lion king," hermione whispered to draco as she gauged for his reaction to her favourite disney film of all time. "it came out a few years back and it's been my favourite since."

"can tell why," he replied, eyeing the little simba. "they're all fucking lions."

"zazu isn't a lion, silly," she joked, elbowing him. harry had fallen asleep during the jungle book so draco had moved the boy to the spare settee while the older two occupied the one directly opposite the tele. "neither are timon and pumbaa."

"what's a timon?" draco asked, watching as the bright colours danced across the small screen. there was a grimace on his face but the way his fingers lightly tapped on the settee to the beat of the music had hermione thinking he actually liked it. i mean, who doesn't like the lion king?

"a meerkat," hermione told him. "you know, the ones that dug holes into the ground—"

"yeah, i know what a meerkat it, princess," draco cut her off, blinking rapidly when the colours changed to fit simba's and nala's song when they were cubs. "is that what them disney people are in to? talking animals?"

hermione rolled her eyes but couldn't help but think it over. "now that i think about it—they are quite fond of animals with a vocabulary of a human. these films are aimed for children."

"and you love them?" he asked slowly, drinking some of the strawberry milkshake hermione had made earlier. "not surprising."

"we've watched two films so far, this being our third," hermione mused, snuggling into her blanket. they've watched dumbo, the jungle book and currently the lion king. maybe lion king two then beauty and the beast?

"this isn't going to be the last one, is it?" draco murmured, finishing off his milkshake. "you're not going to stop until we've watched everything in that bag."

hermione had half a mind to snuggle up next to him but she refrained herself and settled with hugging the pillow. "tomorrow is saturday," she mused smiling at the tv. "i have nothing to do. neither do you."

"woohoo," he muttered sarcastically, stretching. "so much fun."

they carried on watching silently up until the point timon, pumbaa and simba started singing hakuna matata. "what happened?" hermione asked quietly, hugging the pillow closer to her chest.

"what's that supposed to mean?" draco asked her, lifting his legs up so his feet rested on the coffee table.

"i guess i do need you to spell it out for me," she whispered, darting her eyes to his face. "otherwise i won't believe it. i refuse to believe it."

draco sat silently before hugging quietly. "maybe i should just make like timon and put the past behind me."

"you can't keep it bottled up," she told him, scooting closer. "you'll explode."

"they tortured adrian," he whispered, not taking his eyes off the tv. "i did my part and wanted to get out but they wouldn't allow me. they—they wouldn't stop..."

draco coughed, ran a hand through his hair then rested his elbow on the armrest, his chin on his palm. "i stole one of the guards wand—adrian was being kept in a cell—and tried to free him. run away, just the two of us, you know? it didn't exactly work out that way."

draco chuckled coldly, tilting his head down so he was staring at the ground which was painted blue due to the light from the tv. "he was hurt badly, so badly i didn't know how to heal him. i only know the basics, you know? adrian knew i couldn't save him so he... he told me to kill him and get out myself."

hermione inhaled sharply. she's heard enough but, for some reason, she didn't want him to stop. so she let him carry on.

"i fought him on it," he admitted. "adrian won. so i made him hold onto the wand—my hand over his—then i killed him," draco whispered, breaking off. "i made it look like the guard was trying to free adrian but adrian had managed to steal the wand and kill himself. the guard died in the end too."

"how many people have you killed?" hermione asked, scooting over until she was just a hairs breath away.

draco shrugged. "five people, give or take a few."

"you've told me about three," she whispered, watching the happy cartoon characters on the screen. it hadn't quite gotten to the war in the pride lands yet. she wished they were all that carefree.

"i'm not telling you who they are," draco muttered, wrapping the blanket around himself.

"i didn't expect you to," she muttered right back at him, tentatively resting her head on his shoulder. "i don't hate you. you did what you could."

"stop trying to make excuses for the shit i've done, princess," draco saidlifting his head up. he shifted so they both sat more comfortably. "you might start to fancy me."

hermione laughed softly at that. "what makes you think i already don't?" she joked.

draco shrugged, playing along if the small smile on his face was any indication. "i don't know, princess. you tell me."

"you're pretty smart," she admitted. it's the truth—draco malfoy is only second to her and even then it's hardly a gap. they're pretty much equal. "and you can play the piano. i call those a win."

"and i'm irresistible," he added, smirking at her. "can't forget that."

hermione smiled against his shoulder. she can't overlook the murders but she understood why he did it. of course, if she were in those situations, she'd have handled it differently, but there's a reason why draco is in slytherin. he'd kill for the people he cared about while she'd die for them. hermione would be the martyr while draco would be the forgotten one doing all he can to save those he cares about.
