"I never meant to hurt you; I am so sorry," explained Stevie as Morris stood with his back towards her. She had just got done waking him, telling him how uncomfortable she was with him in her bed, explaining how they could never work.

"I care about you, Stevie," still with his back turned, hand on her bedroom door.

"I care about you, too, Morris," tears escaping her large brown eyes.

He turned, hearing that crack in her voice. "I knew that I was treading on ice, that I was falling for the wrong woman - but it wasn't that you were wrong, it was the situation and where your heart belonged. I couldn't help it and I still can't help it... you're beautiful and warm, nothing that I've seen before."

"Last night was incredible, exactly what I needed, but the man I love is lying in a hospital bed..." standing up from where she sat, taking Morris by the hands. "I've realized that he's all I've ever had, all I've ever wanted, and all I'll ever need. My past relationships are not healthy and though they had parts that any woman would dream of, it doesn't go back to my love with Lindsey. We'd fail, Morris..."

"I'm not going to pretend that this doesn't hurt, that I won't be affected by this at all."

"I woudln't expect you not to be hurt and it's entirely my fault..." lashes falling.

Reaching for her chin, Morris tilted her head back up to face him. "My goal had been to comfort you, to bring you some sort of distraction ; a little bit of love that I know you need. So, no, it's not entirely your fault... I came on to you."

"I liked it, I enjoyed that, and you," looking in to his eyes. "I want to remain friends."

"We are, we always were," leaning in to kiss the corner of her mouth. "I wish nothing but the best for you and a man that can keep a woman as long as Lindsey, he's done his job."

"I can't think of life with out him," crying again as Morris took her in to his arms, allowing her to calm.

By the time Morris left, Stevie was still a mess, informing him that all she needed was some more rest.

Stevie changed her bedsheets immediately then took out her journal, expressing her thoughts and concerns over her night with Morris. He was one of the most gentle lovers she'd ever had and while his touch and love was romantic, there was no romance that could top what Lindsey could give.

Never had Lindsey snuck in to Stevie's journal entries, this time reading over her shoulder as he read her private thoughts. Her writing included the first time they'd ever made love, the first time for the two of them. It had been so beautiful, so loving, so memorable. Lindsey had found an abandoned home around the outskirts of California, laying down blankets and candles. He took her out for Valentine's day then brought her as a surprise to the house, Stevie absolutely adoring all of his efforts!

"I think I want to spend my life with you,"  Lindsey had said, both of Stevie's hands in his as they lay across the blanket. "You and I can achieve everything together."

All his words had made Stevie melt, which there was still never a day they didn't, having kissed him on the spot while he'd undressed her.

They'd both become a man and woman that fateful night, never a time when they did not look at the other and remember.

"You were so soft, beautiful, enchanting..."  Lindsey glanced at Stevie over her shoulder, wanting to kiss her lips that held one single tear. "There is nothing different about you today, you are still as soft and beautiful - definitely enchanting. Oh, angel, my fear is that I lose you now and never get to feel you again."
