•Song Liam Sings the Baby to Sleep

Chapter 18

// Let Her go- passenger //

My heavy eyelids drag open, a small surge of coolness running down my spine attempting to bring my body temperature down in the warm room. The beaded sweat wipes away when i glide my head across the all-too-hot pillow i'm resting on. I was growing angry by the mere second. This was the second night I could not get any sleep and was feeling majorly uncomfortable. The throbbing headache was not a factor of help either. Groaning alound i sit up from the bed, digging my face into my hands, tears falling from my burning eyes.

"Mia?" I hear Liam shift his body behind me and not a moment later I felt his hand rubbing up and down my back but I shoulder it away feeling flustered with everything around me. I just want some bloody sleep. Is that too much to ask for?

"I can't sleep," I complain, voice shaky from tears and fustration. I rub the lower region of my belly hopping to settle the active movements of our little one.

"baby boy keeping you up again?" he speaks through a yawn and I nod, he stretches his his arms, bending backwards slowly then stands in front of me as if expecting something from me.

"what?" I mope rather childishly.

"Just let me adjust everything for you."

I don't object and slowly stand, resting my hands on my lower back to support myself as he grabs ahold of my two pillows setting them next to each other, just lower. He continues to recover more pillows from the closet and a thinner blanket. His fingers wrap around mine and he raises my hand, helping me into bed. I lay with a soft groan. Comfortable but still unbearably hot. The pillows felt like a sea and I was sinking in but just as the thought was crossing my mind Liam walked across the room pressing a few buttons against the small box on the wall that controlled the temperature. Instantly i felt my body sigh in relief as the temperature dropped almost instantly.

"I turned the fan on for your sake even though im pretty cold but you can make up for that by cuddling with me," He says smirking at me walking back to bed.

"cocky now are we" I yawn, snuggling into my pool of pillows.

I turn my self around the face the rest of the room, feeling even more at ease in this position. Maybe I'll be able to get some sleep for once.

Liam slips his arm around my waist and manages to tangle his hairy legs with my smooth ones. He plants a small kiss on the back of my neck and it's enough to send tingles down my spine.

"Goodnight,"

"Goodnight" i whisper. A few minutes later I call him name, above a whisper.

"Hm?"

"Do you remember a few nights ago when you.."

"-sang you to sleep?" He finishes off for me.

"Can you?"

"Of course baby, your favorite song?" His raspy voice strains. I'm afraid he's too tired but i've already woken him up.

"Yeah,"

He clears his throat, and begins rubbing small circles into my sides and belly with his fingertips. Not a moment later, his sweet, soothing voice pours into the room. My heart is a melted candle when he sings to me, for me. I feel our baby shift slowly, and stay put afterwards. I loved his voice this way. Everyone is so used to hearing Liam's strong falsetto, note-breaking voice but he also had a soft, soothing tone. One that could master singing any song above a whisper and below a normal voice tone. It struck me so many times and I pondered about how he could accomplish it. His voice carried through the song like angels held the notes in their glowing hands.
