I hate rare steak.
I hate cosplay.
But most especially, I hate stains.
Before me was the definition of a hot mess. Mr Levy was covered in stains of things that crawled out from the depths of the lunchroom. Besides the few hairs that barely held on to his scalp, he was bald. The glasses on his face were large, round and thick glassed (thicker than my phone).
Next to me at a girl that probably was failing because she spent all her time looking up anime.
Don't get me wrong, I waste my time doing idiotic crap, but not to the point I stick what I love over everything I own.
Mr. Levy had just finished attendance, which Nova has successfully said 'here'. Now it was time for us to complete some worksheet.
"Hi! My name is Lei" the girl next to me giggles, putting the tips of her fingers up to her mouth in a fancy fashion.
The same way to women did back home.
"Let's just label the worksheet" I say harshly, digging in my bag for a pencil.
Her eyes widen in shock, but they sink into submission.
As we quickly labeled the parts of some plant, I longed for this day to be over. I had already faced 3 horrid years of High School back in our old town, and now I had to start senior year in a new place. Everyone else in my grade had 'claimed' people, leaving me utterly alone.
Once I completed what I needed to do, I silently opened my bag and gazed at my classes.
First: Biology
Second: Physical Education
Third: U.S History
Fourth: Independent Study
Fifth: Algebra II
Sixth: English
The shrilling bell broke me from my class list, and to Nova's lab partner.
A half ass smirk hung from his lips, words dripping with charm "Come on, I'll gladly show you and your sister around."
I sent a confused look to Nova, but she simply shrugged.

"Why do you have so many books?" the boy questioned, digging around in Nova's bag "You have a locker for a reason."
I had yet to learn his name -I don't care- yet he was already on my nerves. Yanking Nova's bag from my sisters grasp, distress painted her face.
Grabbing it from the boy's grasp, I hand it back to Nova. "She likes to read" I explain coldly. His smirk was gone, sinking below the seas of charm and into one of disappointment.
"I don't see why" he remarks as we turn a corner. I roll my eyes, lips locking. As we walked, I couldn't help but notice the amount of people looking at us. Already use to the feeling of being watched, I stuff my hands in the pockets of my hoodie.
However, I caught sense of my sister's uneasiness. While I got used to the feeling, she sank. "Is there any reason everyone is watching us?" I question bluntly.
"Lafayette is a small school" the boy responds "So it's common that the students notice a new face- or two in your case."
Sighing, we continued on until we entered a smaller classroom.
"Miss Quintana!" the boy called "I've got some fresh meat for you."
The Hispanic woman looks up, eyes meeting with my sister's. "Good morning!" she cheered, a smile growing on her painted lips "May I ask what your name is?"
"Nova" my sister responds "Nova Campbell."
Nodding, she speaks in Spanish for a split second. Looking at the boy and I, she says "She'll be in good hands for the next hour. I promise."
Although she said it with a smile, I knew what she meant: get out. The frown was now on my lips. I didn't want to leave my sister. Either I would be stuck with the boy or some other idiot.
"Hey, don't worry" the boy spoke, his blue eyes gazing into mine "Miss Quintana is a great teacher. And my friend Cameron is in here too."
While I felt somewhat relived, I looked up to Nova, who gave me a firm nod.
Sighing, I followed the boy out of the classroom.
