I hate overly tan people
I hate crawfish
But I especially hate the ocean
"Come on Nova! Don't clasp your hands together!" I cringe, rubbing my temples slowly. "Mom will kill me if you break your fingers."
After we were sure Parker and Ana were gone, Amy and I convinced the others to play a game of beach volleyball. However, since we were sort one person to have even teams, Cameron more or less forced some poor soul to join Ricky and I.
"I'm Elijah" the dark skinned guy grins, his teeth brighter than Cameron's swimsuit.
Shaking his hand, I return the smile "Riley, and this is Ricky." Ricky gives a solemn nod, before turning back to the game.
"Ready to get creamed Campbell?" Amy says wickedly, while Nova and Cameron glance at each other with worry.
"Why do I feel like this is just a pissing match for Amy and Riley" Cameron asks bluntly, crossing her arms.
Amy scowls, her top lip hooking over the top of her gums. She looked like a stray dog, and I half expected her to to growl like one. "It totally is a pissing match, but I need you two to spike the ball on their side of the net."
"I still don't see why we all have to be here" Nova sighs, pushing her hair back.
"Just throw the damn ball already before someone gets a volleyball to the face" Ricky grumbles.
Liking his suggestion, Amy powerfully serves the ball. Elijah moves and passes the ball with ease. Nova tries to spike the ball, but it barely bounces back into the air and slowly rolls over the net. Jumping, I spike the ball with such force, it flies down at the ground. Squeaking, Nova jumps out of the way, landing into the sand.
Sighing, Cameron takes the ball, rolling it under the net. Ricky catches it, taking the ball and serving it over the net smoothly. This time Nova spikes it, but Elijah sets it back over. Groaning, Cameron weakly hits the ball, in which it lands softly on their court.
The game continues, with the score bouncing back and forth. Finally, it was tied, leaving it up to this round. It bounced back and forth, Nova and Cameron finally got into the game, even hitting the ball as hard as I did. Diving to the ground, Elijah merely manages to set the ball into the air before landing in the sand. I cup my hands, passing the ball back over the net, directly at Amy.
With a cry as fierce as a warrior, Amy launches into the air, harshly sending it back over. Jumping, I try to spike, but it soars over my head. Ricky smirks as he swiftly passes the ball back over the net.
"Damn Jamison, I didn't know you could play" Amy grins, spiking the ball into the sand onto our side of the court. Rubbing my head, I try to ignore the smug smile beaming from Nova.
Picking it up, Ricky holds the ball in his left hand. "I'm surprised you forgot I played football."
"You played football?" I ask, cocking a brow in surprise. This news almost distracted me from the fact that we lost. I never saw Ricky as someone who played sports. He seemed like someone who stuck to school and possibly dabbled in the arts like Nova.
"Wait, you're Peter's brother?" Elijah questions, crossing his arms across his bare chest.
"A few years ago, yeah" Ricky answers, rubbing the back of his neck.
