I hate gluten free brownies
I hate jerks
But I especially hate Parker Grady
"So, you and your sister?" the boy begins as we start towards our next class.
Sadly my favorite class was spoiled since he also had it. Gym had always been a class I could prove myself in.
"We're half sisters" I say bluntly, looking over to him "Her father is black, mine is white, but our mother is white."
It almost felt good saying it outloud. Back home, everyone already knew, plus any crazy twists someone had put on it.
"I wasn't pointing out your races" he says almost with a hint of smugness "I was just going to mention that you two seem really close."
"Are you not close to your siblings?" I question, not even thinking about my words.
His lips part, but nothing comes out. "Let's just get to class, yeah?" Clearly I had hit a nerve. I would need to avoid touching on a family subject matter.
"Alright, but prepared to have your ass handed to you" I say, hoping to lighten the mood.
A small smirk turns his frown upside down "I don't think I'm the competition you need to worry about."
The boy's hand points out towards a group of guys. One bounces a ball on his knee before kicking right pass the goalie and into the net.
"That's Parker Grady, his dad is the Principal so he's basically in everything. Almost every sports team -captain of course-, he's the golden choir boy, the NAHS star, and even has a boy from Germany living with him" the boy explains "And on top of it all, he's completely untouchable."
"He sounds like an ass" I make note of.
"He is an ass" the boy sneers, crossing his arms across his chest.
Somehow hearing us, Parker's eyes catch ours.
Unlike the boy's smirk, its cold and full of power. Its as if one look at it will push you to your knees to worship him.
"Ricky, how's your mother? Oh wait- never mind" Parker chuckles, shinning light to the boy's name.
Ricky's fist instantly clench, the muscles preparing to strike Parker.
"Oh I wouldn't do that Ricky, wouldn't want you to get suspended" Parker chuckles, his eyes darting to me "Besides, you wouldn't want to leave this doll here all alone."
"The doll can handle herself" I snap, straightening myself so I'm eye level with the boy. That was his only flaw, while Ricky and his friends stood at 6 foot or well above, he was at a merely 5'8. Giving my 5'7 frame a chance to intimidate him.
"You are a feisty one" Parker chuckles, eyes daring mine "I can't wait to pick you for my teams."
"That's a little difficult when I'm the other captain" I point out, crossing my own arms.
Parker's eyebrows raise "Oh really? Let's see what you got doll."
"Alright" I say, full of confidence "But just you and me. Whoever gets the ball into the goal wins."
"I'll have Hans be your goalie" Parker notes, beginning to turn around.
Shaking my head, I turn to the German boy who stands beside his friend "Hans will be your goalie and Ricky will be mine. We wouldn't want Hans to let you win."
Frowning, the golden boy waves his hand off, grabbing a soccer ball.
After a few words of encouragement, I glare at Paker, the ball between us.
The shrill of a whistle starts out little game. Instantly my foot snatches the ball from Parker. Pushing forward, I kick the ball forward. Parker's steps are close behind, cursing under his breath.
As I near the goal box, I turn my body somewhat to the right.
As planned, Parker and Hands turn to the right in hopes to stop me. But with one swift motion, I blast towards the left, and the ball hits the back of the net.
"Yes!" Ricky calls from the other side of the gym, running to the other side. His hand falls to my shoulder, a grin on his lips "He's sweating like a pig and we just started."
"You cheated."
I turn to Parker, who in fact, is sweating like a pig.
"How? Do tell how I cheated" I snap harshly, fed up with his poor sportsmanship.
"You went to the right, and then to the left!" he cried accusingly.
Shaking my head with a scowl, I respond with "It's called strategy. You lost, so get over it."
I turn around before I say some unkind things to him that would even shock myself.
"Maybe your sister wouldn't be as harsh. Maybe she could teach me a few moves, you know some one on one" I hear his charm filled voice purr.
Just the thought of Parker trying to use Nova, nonetheless talk to her made my blood boil. Whipping around, I glare into his eyes "You leave my sister alone."
"Or what? I can do whatever I want."
"I'll wipe away your worries of me becoming a captain with you" I threaten.
"And how are you going to do that?" he chuckles.
Without thinking, my foot flies up and kicks him in between the legs.
