Zora woke up to Kiba shaking her shoulders, "Princess Zora. Please wake up."

"What?"

"There's someone here."

Zora shot up, scrabbling up the wall in the most un-princessly way possible. She found herself staring at someone in a back cloak with a mask. Kiba blocked part of her view, since he was standing in front of her like an overprotective mother bear. Normally Zora hated being made to feel weak, and disliked when people tried to protect her, but it didn't bother her when Kiba did it.

Drawing herself up, and trying to appear as in control as possible, which was hard to do when she was cowering behind her 8 ft tall bodyguard. "Who are you and what do you want?"

"I represent an organization that is incredibly interested in you Princess Zora."

"And that would be?"

"I cannot say. Princess Zora, did you meet with the Paladins of Voltron 6 months ago?"

"I did not," Zora lied. She guessed this was a test from her father, perhaps to be sure that she and Kiba were still loyal.

"Then you are useless to us." The figure pulled out a jagged blade, holding it horizontally.

Without blinking Kiba had a sword up and blocked the attackers sword, using his other hand to drive a knife into the enemies ribs. He fell back with a cry and then vanished in a flash of black smoke.

"What the quiznak was that?" Zora gasped.

 "I do not know Princess."

"Kiba, I thought about what you said...about the boy in the lab," Zora paused. What she was about to suggest could get them both killed. "We should free him."

"We should what? Princess, I mean no disrespect, but that's suicide."

"No it's not. I thought about what you said, about what went on not being for the good of the empire. Maybe there are other soldiers who feel the way you do."

"I don't think there will be."

"No Kiba. Listen to me. You saw how the men at the farther outposts were, they are growing restless and uneasy. They are dying out, our people are dying Kiba. Some of them know that, and they will side with me." Zora didn't want to ask what she was about to, but deep down, she knew this needed to be done, "Will you side with me?"

Kiba bowed his head, "Of course Princess. Always."
